Geez 300mb... That's heavy. That's the only thing I can't stand about all these beta drivers - the insane filesizes. Sometimes, it sucks to be in Australia ![]()

NOw this is what I'm talking about. Some really fresh builds/leaks. . ATI's drivers have been so bugged out recently, it's about time they picked up the pace..

Saw Rflairs post earlier on Guru3D. So far after install, some quick 30 minute tests of WoW, BFBC2 and Crysis Warhead. BFBC2 definately seems smoother durring the first level, especially at the end where you drive up to the Submarine Bay and the planes bomb everything, usually with the smoke and dust and explosions performance will drop, noticed very little FPS drop and Fraps showed very little aswell. Test run at 1920x1200 24xEDAA MSAA ( AAA not supported ) 16xAF VSYNC OFF. Max ingame quality. Crysis Warhead, felt great, no graphical issues, performance was top notch. Test run at 1920x1200 12xEDAA AAA, 0xAF ( not supported ) VSYNC OFF. Max ingame quality. World Of Warcraft very good performance again, no issues, stuttering and screen tearing gone. Test run at 1920x1200 24xEDAA AAA, 16xAF VSYNC On. Max ingame quality. Clock throttling and card temps are normal. Definately keepers for now. EDIT: I am unable to confirm wether the BFBC2 load issue is indeed fixed, SSD raid array dosen't suffer the problem, my load times are 6 to 10 seconds regardless. Can not test Eyefinity as I have not purchased my setup yet for it.... Dell has no stock on the active adapter and the Sapphire one is hard to find...

One thing about this one; it's not digitally signed by ATI's certificate at all......

shhhh this is the internet man.... ATi could find out his secret identity On a serious note... at this leak rate, by the time ATi gets the official 10.4's out, we should all be running 10.9's.

BF:BC2 load times are still long in dx10 here. I'm on a 4870 though, maybe they were fixed for 5xxx cards? |

On my dual 5870's and SSD setup it takes 30 - 40 seconds to load maps in BFBC2..so no improvement that I can tell at least.

Uninstalled all ATI software, rebooted and removed the 4800 series driver and rebooted again. Probably overkill but whatever. BFBC2 still takes 15-20sec to load a map and in DX9 the ground textures are still flickering for me. No gain but at least so far no pain.

Why are the load times in BFBC2 quicker for some and not others. In the CCC it says that its driver version 10.3. What does other peoples ones say? Mine says this:- Driver Packaging Version 8.712-100302b-096979C-ATI Catalyst™ Version 10.3 Provider ATI Technologies Inc. 2D Driver Version 8.01.01.1010 2D Driver File Path /REGISTRY/MACHINE/SYSTEM/ControlSet001/Control/CLASS/{4D36E968-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}/0000 Direct3D Version 8.14.10.0735 OpenGL Version 6.14.10.9704 Catalyst™ Control Center Version 2010.0302.2233.40412

it doesnt matter what it says for cat #, only the 'driver packaging version' matters the cat version is only/usually written on whql drivers, & if you install betas on a fresh install, where wont even be the cat version field you can tell the date from the packaging version too, 8.74-100406a = version 8.74, april 6 2010

According to his info, he is on regular 10.3, and if he did install these, he did not do it right, or something messed up. Anyway, he needs to do it again, and remove via Install Manager before trying again. But, I agree about the repeted "Catalyst Version" questions on betas, it's about time the "why's and what's" about this is put to rest...

Dunno if it's a bug or intentional, but now my gpu2 idles at 725 core 1000 mem, instead of 157 core 300 mem. I've checked this using msi afterburner. |

FFS!!! I uninstalled everything using the ATI UNINSTALL method..NOW when I try and install these new drivers I get a message saying "setup has detected an incomplete build and will now exit". WTF?? OK..Installed vanilla 10.3 (removed the tick on the ATI drivers box). Re-booted and installed these new ones...still got the same info on the box....how am I supposed to install these correctly? EDIT: Just tried AGAIN: Started driver install....chose "UNINSTALL - CUSTOM"...ticked "ATI DRIVERS"....this should remove the ATI drivers..am I right? Re-booted..... Opened new driver package..chose "CUSTOM INSTALL"...ticked "ATI DRIVERS" (one would think that this would install the new drivers......re-booted. STILL SHOWS: Driver Packaging Version 8.712-100302b-096979C-ATI WOWSERS.......

Tried that..didnt work! OK..Just did a complete un-install using the CCC's uninstall feature. (One would assume that this means UNINSTALL). Removed any folders left behind in C: ATI. Tried to install new drivers.........
