Default Best PC Rally Game?

Hi there,

I started watching the World Rally Championship coverage the other night and it got me thinking that I've not played a really good rally game for ages...

Which ones are any good these days..?

Dirt 2 is great but there aren't a whole lot of rally stages. Excellent Sim/arcade mix.

Richard Burns Rally is still considered the king of rally games but it isn't for everyone. Can be painfully hard at times.

Dirt 2 is rubbish IMHO. RBR is the only one if you want a sim. Dirt 1 was OK, CMR4 and all those were OK also if you want a casual game. The official WRC game (sim? we still don't know) is coming in September of this year.

Although a bit old by today's standards, if you can still find it, it's a hoot:
http://www.microsoft.com/games/PC/ra...challenge.aspx

It's a bit more arcade-style controls vs. pure sim, but I think it's one of the better rally games for the PC.

Another vote for Richard Burns Rally.
CMR04/05 can be fun if you want an arcade rally game, although CMR05 uses Starforce. I personally didn't care for Dirt.

Richard Burns Rally if you have a wheel/pedal setup. If you are going to play with a gamepad, Dirt 2.

Flatout 1 is a great rally game, but its not WRC type rally. its more like Dirt Track Racing.

I would go for Richard Burns Rally, but its quite out dated these days... i just wish they had ported over V-Rally 3 to PC, number 2 isn't so bad, but both 1 and 3 are great rally games... 1 and 2 were both on PC, consoles struck again with 3 i guess :/

Whenever I'm cleaning out my storage I always come across my copy of Mobil 1 Rally Championship imported at a not insignificant cost ages and ages ago.

I know that I can never bear to play the game again (as it's much too dated at this pont), yet I can't bring myself to throw it out. It was simply an excellent rally game and for whatever reason it's the only sim style racing game I've ever enjoyed. Even at that time, I generally preferred more arcade tailored games, but M1RC struck a chord with me for whatever reason. Anyone else ever play it?

Richard Burns Rally.

Best sim ever, in my opinion, not only the best racing game.
There are texture packs available as well, if you can't stomach the graphics.

+1. And what amazing stages, some of them last 30 minutes . M1RC (also known as Rally Championship 2000) had the best mix of arcade/sim, at its time had the best graphics i had ever seen and i highly recommend it. On the other hand, Richard Burns Rally is by far the best rally sim ever. Those two games are simply remarkable

I loved RBR, there was something about it that gave a real sense of speed and realism, cant quite put my finger on it.

+1 for mobile 1, but I quite like dirt2. Depends what you're after - for me Dirt2 is a great combination of arcade type fun without being totally unbelievable for handling, speeds etc.

Also for me, the extra graphics that a newer game has add to the fun. Dirt2 runs great on my amd x3 cpu, 4850, 50" lcd screen and G25 wheel setup.

bear in mind as others have said that Dirt2 isn't dedicated rally, it's got some rally tracks as well as dirt tracks where you all race together and some tarmac tracks as well.

Different topic but I quite liked NFS Shift as well for a blend on fun and realism.

Richard Burns I do remember being very very hard!

Richard Burns Rally, there are loads of mods for it now that add new cars / tracks / textures etc.

You'll need a wheel though.

RBR and Rally Trophy are the ones to get. Lots of mods for both. RBR has the best feel to any racer. If youre wheel has force-feedback (like it should), you're in for a treat.

Richard Burns Rally always gets good feedback from rally sim enthusiasts.

Might be getting a bit long in the tooth now, no new decent rally sims for years (or any other sims for that matter).

Richard Burns Rally.
And you don't need a wheel for it, it's perfectly playable with a gamepad .

Dirt2 is great too. But I can easily see myself getting bored of it once the graphics get old.

What about International Rally Championship.

The pre-launch ingame screenshots were fantastic

Actual ingame screenshots didn't seem to have quite the same realism... BUT it does support Anti-aliasing!!!!
