Default Why is "the hulk" movie franchise so bad?

I just watched "The Incredible Hulk" and not even with Edward Norton could they pull off the terrible dialog and story. The special effects, dialog and story are poor. Why is it so drastically different than Spiderman (well maybe not spiderman3), IronMan, Batman etc?

Holy Heyzeus on a moped, Edward Norton was in a Hulk flick? Credibility failing...

The Spiderman (to be pronounced as Yiddish) was scheiss. As 'twas The Batman. The Ironman had some redeeming qualities but still... not so much. Oy.

It's about a normal man who turn into a green, muscly, stupid man... Not much they can do with the source material.

Batman is about a man wearing panties and they did a much better job with the dialog and characters.

Batman is a about a rich guy, who wears high tech gear and fights crime. Hulk on the other hand is just a medically retarded green man who breaks **** for no reason.

Big difference.

hate to tell you this, but all of the spiderman movies sucked... it only just became apparent to most viewers by the 3rd one. Go back and watch the first two, and you'll see that it's the same boring garbage, enunciated with fantastic action sequences. This is true about all 3 movies: every moment without computer graphics is boring as hell.

Yep, panties vs torn cut-off dungarees vs metal exoskeleton... point awarded to The Ironman.

I agree. People getting all weepy or how "awesome" Spiderman was. Spiderman ****ing sucked. The most entertaining part of the Spiderman movies was the console games based on them.

I disagree. The most entertaining point in any of the spiderman movies were the cameos by Bruce Campbell.

Those were the only moments worth watching from those crappy movies. In general all this craze about dc and marvel comics only produce crap movies and have one purpose, to fatten Stan Lee's bank account.

Well now that Marvel reclaimed the rights to make the movies itself, the quality of the movies went up. Compare Iron Man and The Hulk to the previous Marvel movies, and to Wolverine.

The first hulk was better from a story stand point.

The second was better from a 'Hulk SMASH!' stand point.

I appreciate them both, for what they are.

eh hulk origin story just isn't good and the villians are pretty generic. If they did a world war hulk movie I think it would be awesome

I thought Spider-man was great when it first came out, but I don't think it's aging that well, especially compared to the more "serious" comic book movies like Batman and Iron Man. Spider-man 3 was awful though, I hated it.

Hulk movies could be good, but it would require more action scenes, which = more money, and they haven't done well enough to justify that.

Comic book superhero movies are in general, for the lack of another word, crap. Empty fast borefests akin to a rollercoster ride that leave you all stupid and numb when you exit the theatre. But hey, it's what everyone's watching, right?

Wait wait wait. The original Punisher movie with Dolph Lundgren was crap? That was the best superhero movie ever. It was even better than the blockbuster smash hit Daredevil! I am insulted, the gloves are off sir.

I wouldn't say the quality went up consistently for either Fox or Marvel.

For Fox:

X2 > Wolverine

For Marvel:

Iron Man > all
Incredible Hulk > Hulk

...but Fantastic Four = Fantastic Four 2 = teh suck, and Punisher Warzone only equal to Punisher (TJ) better than Punisher (DL).

Spiderman 1 = Good
Spiderman 2 & 3 = Sucked

Hulk (all of them) = Sucked

Batman franchise = Hit and miss on all of them, some good, some terrible

Superman franchise = See Batman

X-Men = I actually like the franchise, but I grew up reading the comics, and it was my fave.

Wolverine = Facepalm, Jackman plays a great Logan, but the writing was just terrible.

FF = Sucked

Daredevil = Sucked

Iron Man = Easily takes the crown. Kicked major ass.

Speaking of Spiderman, it says on Wikipedia that Meryl Streep is on tap to play the Black Cat in the next film? WTF?
