Default Where do you deflect the asteroid to?

An asteroid is incoming and you get to deflect it, but it's going to total the continent it lands on. Alternatively, you can put it in the ocean and total all the coastal countries with tsunamis. Where do you deflect it to and why?

It may be worth noting that Antarctica stores something like 70% of the worlds water. May be a good idea not to vapourize it.

I'd imagine smashing it into 2km of ice in Antartica would have the least effect on the rest of the world.

Africa, they have to the least to lose, if anything. They have masses of empty land where it can land and not harm anyone.

There was actually a story that an asteroid hit the ice sheets of antarctica and simply buried itself in it not creating a huge dust cloud... it would depend on the size tho...

Cant seem to google that one right now...

Im pretty sure i would choose Africa. To me it just seems like it is the most under developed country in the world, and to take out North America or even parts of Europe would take way too long to rebuild and most of the earth's population are in both these spots. So Africa it is for me...

Doesn't matter where it hits if its going to total the continent it strikes, all life on earth will be eventually destroyed from the insulating dust cloud. Unless we all move underground and start making machines to store us as AI for a few hundred decades.
