Default Court today

For an excessive speeding ticket -- I guess doing 164kmh in a 100kmh zone merits an instant court date.

Could lose my license for a month and pay a 2K fine -- wish me luck.

Don't speed, its expensive kids.

100mph on a 60mph road? Yeah, that'll do it.

Hope it doesn't screw your job up too much. :/

Yea Andy, it was retarded -- thank god he didn't radar me before I slowed down, I was doing about 188kmh.

If I lose it for a month this is probably the best time of the year -- on thur I am on xmas break for three weeks, then come back to work for 10 days -- would have my license back for next set of days off in Jan.

That said, its an annoyance and this is the first time I have actually stopped speeding.

I guess we can all make an example of you. Probably about the only reason for this thread to exist in the first place. So, yeah... not really going to wish you luck on this one. Hope you slow down in the future.

I go caught doing 90 in a 55 before. I cried and got off with a warning.

You make a thread about how you make 10k a month and are complaining about a $165 fine for being caught speeding?

Does making 10k a month mean that $165 is insignificant? Also the thread was not to share how much I make but to learn as to how much people make.. I mean learning about how much I make would be stupid right? Because I know already... do you follow?

Earning 10K/mo means that $165 is well within your means, hence you have no reason to complain as it's no hardship for you to pay. If it is then you still can't complain because you are not managing your money well. do you follow?

It is a hardship since I don't want to give anything back to the government since I am not taking anything from them also... plus I am an expat so they can choke on my left nut...

Do you follow?

I got pulled over for 106 in a 60 once, back in 2002, had to go to court as well... I was slowing from 120... Highway was completely empty, if I'd have wrecked that night, it'd have only been me that got hurt. Had to get a lawyer, reckless driving, got it dropped with deferred adjudication, had to take defensive driving, pay a 250 fine, and not have any criminal charges for the next 6 months, and always have my license and insurance on me or I'd go to jail. Was pretty light, but the lawyer fee's weren't.

But its such a stupid law. You are caught doing 50 km/h over the speed limit and get slapped with a 'street racing' fine and your car is potentially impounded under the officers discretion.

I can understand on suburban streets or any streets for that matter which see a lot of traffic of both pedestrian and automobile but on a highway? The 401 serious highway here in toronto has a speed limit of 100 km/h but the average cruising speed of most vehicles is 120 - 140 km/h.

Speeding laws suck because they are so strict. What do I mean?

Here in Brazil people ALWAYS speed like ****nuts @ night, then they decided to actually try and control it.
What happend? Tons of tickets!
Then...tons of people with lawyers saying that streets @ too dangerous @ night to go slow/stop at traffict lights. Lol, it worked.
In Sao Paulo (the city people here might have heard about :P) theres 2-10km of slowed/stopped transit, and people from "vilas" rob everyone in their cars since they can't move. Rofl. Is there a law for that or police to prevent that? Hell no.

I was driving at like 119km/h in a 80km/h EMPTY ROAD. Yay, ticket. Sure it's the law, but **** it, it sucks and it's dated.

Then again I drive all day and tickets are rare, but meanwhile there's people making non-allowed U turns, which sometimes almost kill a pedestrian.
Then theres the ****ing "bikers" that run through traffic like ****s and every damn time they break someone's side mirror. No law against that either.

Anyways, sad to see your ticket. You PROBABLY was NOT beign a dangerous driver and was driving like that because the road was EMPTY. And it sucks. The people that need to be taught how to drive (Specially noob women (sorry) that want to park and SUDDENLY break in a 60km/h zone and try to park without giving any sign that they are stopping) are almost never punished/educated)

/rant off =p

Then don't go 50kmh over the limit. You'd be surprised how easy it is to actually stay within 5 mph of a posted limit.

I am not one to condone excessive speeding, but being labeled as 'street racing' when you are not even racing but just simply going over the speed limit is nonsense.

I feel your pain man. I got a ****ing ticket last week for doing 69 MPH in a 50 MPH zone but the officer only wrote it for 60 MPH. The damn thing cost $165 bucks though. At least it didn't go on my record or insurance...
