Default tried to cut out this damn ball in my arm

So when I was about 10 I noticed this small round hard ball in my arm, and around the time I ended up digging the damn thing out of my arm.

well the thing came back in the exact same spot not long after (year or two) and there it has sat since.

Untill Today! or so I thought I figured id pull it out again as it was easy back then, but I guess I forgot how thin my 10 year old arms would have been back then compared to now.

made a deep cut over the site, but the damn thing is much deeper then before and im not willing to dig any deeper then that

go to a dermatologist. they'll give you an anesthetic, take out the tumor, use a laser to seal the wound and then send it for a biopsy. it's painless.

Painless and involves lasers? Win-win.

Years ago, I noticed a fairly small, subdermal lump in the side of my neck. My doctor said it was probably nothing of concern, but it should be looked at by a dermatologist. The dermatologist said pretty much the same thing, but added that since it was in an easily accessible location, we'd best have it removed and examined.

It was outpatient surgery. He injected an anesthetic into my neck, and carved out an area about the size of a penny. He put the resulting mass into a sample jar and shipped it off for examination.

At my follow-up appointment, he confirmed that it was totally benign. Something called a "dermatofibroma"... some kind of tissue crystallization. I asked how it formed, and he said it could be a number of things. Spider bites are a fairly common cause.

I reponded. "Great. Some people get super-powers. I wind up with a "dermatofibroma." This dermatologist had no sense of humor - didn't even crack a smile. Putz.

I excised a mole from my leg by myself. Used a bit of local and stitched myself up. Gave it to my doctor to send off for histo. She looked at it and said, "You took this off yourself?". "Yes." She took one look at my arm where she botched an excision she had done herself (insisted on taking the sutures out after only 7 days, I said they needed to stay in for 12-14 because of the position, she said no, took the sutures out, and the wound blew open 5 minutes after I got home, healed by secondary intention, left a nice scar) and didn't say a word and sent it off.

I didn't even smile .... don't quit your day job

The dermatologist probably didn't watch/read any Spiderman movies/comic books.

When I had a wart problem when I was younger I ended up using finger nail clippers to dig them out at the root. Hurt like hell but I don't have them anymore.

Also had this weird thing growing under my lip, between it any my gum. I took a pair of scissors and cut it off. That was extremely painful but it's gone now. Beats having to pay hundreds of dollars for a doctor anyway.

self surgery is so much fun! I dunno why but i like to pick/ pull things out like that.

The most painfull thing i did to myself was when I had a very very bad case of ingrown toenail on my big toe, bad enough I should have had an operation, well after a few beers I grabbed a tweezer and scapel bloody painfull mess but I got it out, and I haven't had one since.

why bother cutting at all, if you have access to a syringe, inject a cc or so of hydrogen peroxide right into the center of it. With any luck, it will explode outwardly, rupture the skin surface and problem solved. And if it doesn't, well, what do you think you have all those white blood cells for?

If it came back in the same spot, it's most likely a cyst.
