Um...it could be next Celica but it looks like next AE86 to me, is it? This is seems like LFA's brother. Remember, this is production version and the FT-HS was a concept version.

I have a feeling this'll be the scion tC replacement.

And from what ive heard of rumors before, its a 2.0 subaru boxer engine making at least 150hp. Price is supposed to be under 20k. Not bad for a little RWD coupe.

The more i look at it the more i like it, really like it. From what's been posted around it should hit our roads by 2011. A Sub version of this may also hit the road.

Incorrect.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Subaru

Quote:
Fuji Heavy Industries, the parent company of Subaru, is currently in a partnership with Toyota Motor Corporation, which owns 16.5% of FHI.[1] The company is named after the star cluster Pleiades, which in Greek mythology is known as the Seven Sisters, and in Japanese mythology the name is "Subaru", which roughly translated into English means, "to govern", "unite," or "gather together". The company logo is influenced by the star cluster. The large star in the logo represents Fuji Heavy Industries, and the five smaller stars represent the current five companies that are united under the FHI group.

Not the only one.

I mean, they put the steering wheel on the wrong side. How stupid must they be to screw that up?

Also large enough for Toyota to leverage the end Subaru's production of keijidosha style cars in Japan and have them supplied instead by Daihatsu. At subsidiary of Toyota.

You know... I'd actually consider buying this... new. And that says a lot. Looks like a z350 or whatever.. but a toyota? Count me in. Even if it's in the 25K area price-wise.... I'd be all over that.

for once DorX we are in agreement. Interior needs some toning down. Very sharp, clean lines.

It's just the perfect storm of everything I want in a car. I want it to look sporty and luxy without being labeled outright as such. It's not a lexus so it won't suffer as much from the douchebag syndrome other cars suffer from.

It's relatively "cheap" and I expect toyota not to skimp on the handling and that sort of "sportyness".

The fact that it's a 4-banger and not a 6 also skews to it's perfectness.

It's the polar opposite in some respects to the camaros and the mustangs of the world, which again, skews to my preference.

The kia forte and the hyundai genesis coupe and tiburon come close to what the perfect car should be as far as my likes go, but they are kias and hyundais. It's not the nameplate that is bad, it is knowing that their design philosophy is very middle-of-the-road. I just don't expect to be "wowed" in any way by those cars.

Even if this car doesn't "wow" in terms of performance, it's looks alone will make up for that.

I realize that.

But if this is supposed to be a Celica replacement, they will probably go with FWD.. like most of their other lineup.

Who knows. With cars like the Pontiac G8, Hyundai Genesis and AWD platforms now configured for more rear-drive bias than ever - Toyota could very well come out with an affordable and fun RWD coupe for this generation .

This is actually intended to be Celica replacement indeed, but it is also a joint effort between Subaru and Toyota. This is rumored to have Subaru boxer 4 cylinder engine, but not many details are known as of yet. This is also going to be rather affordable, rumored pricing to start at around 20K.

This is also going to be RWD, not AWD or FWD.

Back in the 1980's I had a 1983 Celica. It was RWD and a 2 door. FWD or AWD would be better.
