So the wife and I are looking at getting rid of our Boxster S and picking up a Porsche Cayenne Turbo S. We want something that can tow a boat but still stomp almost anything on the street. All while doing it in luxury. The Lightning is going to have all it's tow equipment removed for weight saving and some fiber glass leaf springs installed which will pretty much kill any of the truck duties it had. Now we just need to find one we like! Can't wait to get behind the wheel of this beast .

I have no doubt it's an excellent vehicle, but even the more box-like Land Rover looks so much more the part. The Cayenne just reminds me of a fat woman in clothes are are several sizes to small. The same clothes may look good on a more petite girl (i.e., the 911), but Cayenne just looks like a fat and blubbery version of a 911, regardless of its performance or abilities.

Good luck with the new vehicle, no doubt it will be a badass ride. It will look right at home next to the Lightning.

Thanks! So far Tucson has 0 Turbo S Cayennes available but we are finding them all over San Diego. Probably will be getting it within the next 6 months. We have to sell the Boxster first and I'm not sure how long that will take ![]()

You post a link to a regular Cayenne. I'm talking about the Turbo S not the cheapo base model. But to each his own I'm. I still have my Cobra and Lightning for when I want to "look good".

I'm not telling you not to get it, I'm just saying that its looks have been universally panned. But to each his own, indeed I'm sure it would be a very good drive.

No bitching from her at all. In fact she picked out the Lightning on her own. She does all the oil changes on it herself and she even swapped the supercharger on it HERSELF! She's also really into video games and she's Asian. So ummm yeah I'm keeping her ![]()

I am just running a ported M112 but it had we bought a used one and had it ported then we had to swap the stock one for the ported one So that's when it was pulled off and swapped. She did it herself only thing I helped her with was taking the belt off because it's a little tough on that thing to do by yourself.

We got a really good deal on the Ported Eaton. And we are pretty happy with the performance we are getting out of it. A whipple may be in the futur plans but I'd really like to build a 5.4 DOHC motor and twin turbo it. This can't happen until we buy another vehicle that can tow and fit stuff in like the Cayenne Turbo S lol.

Not a fan, but good luck with it. If I remember right, don't take it offroad, anything more than dry grass, and it's like a beached whale. It's also a heavy ass mofo, will drink tons of fuel, and if it's like most SUV's it's towing capabilities probably stink. On that note, it will tow and have far more interior room than the Cockster S. ![]()

I'm sure TopGear had a Cayenne Turbo S on their show and they found on gravel it was unwieldly, had poor grip on uneven terrain, and used a flat glass yard to show it's "ability". You are right the Cayenne can tug along 7700Lbs. Edit: From Edmunds: "The Cayenne can also be a capable SUV when it comes to off-road work, but only if you specify the optional off-road package."

The most offroading it will see is the speed bumps at the mall parking lot. Seriously who buys a Porsche to go offroad anyway? Although there is a ton of vis on Youtube showing it's off road capabilities if you ever get the desire. Towing capacity is enough to tow a boat and trailer or a car and triler if need be. Even my Lightning only has a 5000lb towing capacity and I tow my Cobra all around with it. And we are also looking for a vehicle that may be able to fit a future Lil' one if we decide that it's "time". We do not own a vehicle currently that seats more than two people.

I will give you guys this much. It is NOT the best looking SUV. But it's the only SUV that fits our criteria which is in this order by importance to us, Performance, Towing, Handling, Amenities, Interior space, and somewhere way at the bottom of the list would be off road capability and gas mileage. I can't remember the last time I cared about how much gas costs. We did consider the Range Rover HSE sport supercharged but the performance is just not there. And we have also looked at Jeep Cherokee SRT8's they have good performance but as a Ford guy I can't stomach owning a Mopar.

If you're not in a hurry you might want to wait and see what the new Lamborghini SUV is like. It's supposed to be based on the Cayenne platform. |

I haven't even heard about it but something tells me it will be a little out of my price range. I'm looking at sub $120k here. And that's only if we buy it brand new which I highly doubt since I have only ever bought 1 brand new vehicle before and I took a beating on it and vowed never to buy a new one again. The ones I'm looking at are closer to 70-80k.
