Nice morgoth, as always. Looks like the HD4850 is really more powerful than i ever imagined, sometimes 2x faster than my HD2900-kiddie. If i do go for a 24" (i wont go 22" from 19"..) it looks that i might have to get me some HD4-series loving. Problem is affording BOTH HD4 cards and a 24" monitor

Sweetness.

Would be nice to also include a basic 8800GT in the charts. Only as it's kind of the "last years" cheap performance mainstream part.

Otherwise, I like the Baseline/High/Ultra thing with the charts.

Might want to put the AA/AF in brackets for the cheap seats (refering to me) because like a moron I skipped ahead to the charts and did not know what the hell I was looking at until I went back and read.

Also like that you have some "not commonly benched" titles in there as well.

What I usually play?? Flight and Racing Simulations! :) Battle of Britain II:Wings of Victory, GTR2, Race 07 and Richard Burns Rally (Best Rally SIM of all time). I only stop simming if something exceptional comes out.
Playing now? With my 4870. ;)

I don't understand why an 8800GT or 9600GT or 8800GTS 512 or 9800GTX wasn't included in the benches?

I think any one of those would be find. Just as a reference point from the competitor standpoint.

Although we see this alot anyway. But ya. One of em. I would vote 8800GT as it's the most deployed of the bunch.

For now that is.

Thank you guys for detailing the 4850! Very well done, and well said. You know what, kickasscop cvearl, there is a plethora of benches out threre..why are you guys being critical when the job was well done??? Write your own reviews..

Having a suggestion is now critical or the fact that the purpose of most benches is to compare and contrast cards from both graphics hardware manufacturers?

And I do understand that you don't have one... that sort of explains everything.

from your persepective, and yes general benchmarks, though there other sites that just do one type of tech without the competitiion.. you can look for those, too. if Lupine, Margoth, and Ichy wanted to compare it would have been done, with apropriate tools...As I said, there a plethora of benches, elsewhere.. Plus, it seems that bias is ensuing in yours and cvearls suggestion..though could be wrong, just feels like it..

Um. I certainly did not mean to start something. I thought someone near you would have one to lend or something.

If you were anywhere near me I would lend mine.
