![]() The criteria used to select a CPU cooler varies from person to person. Some are looking for something silent, some are looking for the ultimate in cooling to aid in their overclocking endeavors, and some are looking for the balance point between those two extremes. Cooler Master appears to be targeting all three groups with their upcoming Hyper Z600 CPU cooler, an enormous cooler designed to run in one of three modes: passive, with a single 120mm fan, or with two 120mm fans in a push/pull configuration. Introduced at ceBIT 2008 with an expected release date in late April, will this cooler have what it takes to earn a place of honor in your air-cooled system? Join Rage3D as we review the Cooler Master Hyper Z600 CPU cooler. |

![]() It is rather large, isn't it lol. The cooler came with a small tube of thermal compound labelled 'Cooler Master Supreme Thermal compound'. A nice name, but we elected to test with Artic Silver 5 instead, which we feel better represents what others will do if they're in the market for an high end air cooler. |

![]() You call that a high end cooler? It may look nice, but i dont think the design is efficient at all

Not sure what qualifies it as high end in your opinion. ![]() Seems Sunbeam has a newer sink out as well. ![]() http://www.frostytech.com/top5heatsinks.cfm

![]() My bad, based the previous opinion on other reviews that only used a rear exhaust fan for the HSF airflow.

![]() To be fair, while the proximity of the rear exhaust fan to the cooler made testing a push/pull config redundant (requiring the removal of the rear fan from the chassis), such a config might have decreased temps another degree or two. As to whether or not the Hyper Z600 qualifies as a high-end air cooler, the expected price point alone would seem to classify it as such, and performance certainly wasn't lacking. I am, however, not sure the performance justified the heft of the cooler. My Ultra120Extreme is absolutely dwarfed by the Z600 lol. |
