Ohhh if anything i hate stuttering more than anything. Honestly I´m only annoyed/have had it in Gears of War and Crysis.

Installing now, and very much thanks for the heads up spyre as things like this go unnoticed!

My NDA would prevent me from discussing cause of the issue with anyone who isn't also under NDA or a member of AMD.ATI staff.

Crysis is still buggy in DX10 mode under Vista64, here.
There is some general malfunction with DX10 apps, Vista (SP1) and the latest Cat's.

Hope it fixes any one of the problems I'm still seeing (especially those that the 8.3's only half-fixed, like the problems with TF2). Also, Colin McRae : DiRT STILL doesn't start up with Crossfire enabled. Is that ever going to get fixed?

spyre, Can you offer any ideas as to what situations the stuttering that's been referred to by these hotfixes occurs? Ie; any particular games, resolutions, settings... Something that I may be able to try myself to see?

Waddayaknow, it's not common to see a driver fix being released for an issue such as stuttering.

So you eagerly open the thread only to find out the link has been removed.

Frustration arises.

Buaaahhh!!!

p.s. spyre, keep us posted plz!

If ATI removed it from the website for technical reasons, why on earth would you want to download a hotfix they took off the net to address further issues?

Hm, is it because my installation gave me an error message, mentioning some kind of CLI (Command Line Interface) problem? Anyway, it's running smoothly for now.

These fix the Powerplay bug(which is safe to say screwed around with a lot of benchmarks...including most of the very commonly used ones), and which caused, you've guessed it, stuttering. The proper version of the hotfix should be up soon.

as for powerplay goes i would be greatfull to any ATI tester for forwarding this information to people who work on drivers/bioses

i uncovered something that maybe will help to fight stuttering/powerplay bugs

i ran fur benchmark from gpu caps viewer
and observed clocks/temps with rivatuner
i thought what would happen if i would load both my cores with 100% load
and guess what, when cpu usage is nearing maximum the cards clocks fall to 2D clocks even if there is 100% gpu load (gpu usage spikes to 0%)

you can see it on this screenshot i took

i have a gigabyte HD3870 BBA

Hm, a couple of hours is way too optimistic, though.

Anyway, I've got the hotfix for Vista-64, so anyone interested to try it, I can mirror the file on a free host.

It would be great, effectively, if you mirrored the hotfix for vista64.

This is an old bug. The Hotfix deals precisely with this. I've just tested it on an X2 in Vista X64, using OCCT 2.0.0a to load up the CPU, and there's no downclocking happening anymore.
