XFX GeForce 8800 GTS 512MB Alpha Dog XXX Edition Review

Having been impressed by XFX's factory overclocked GeForce 8800 GT Alpha Dog XXX graphics board a little while back, Elite Bastards take a look at a GeForce 8800 GTS 512MB part that has been sprinkled with that XFX overclocking magic, in the form of the GeForce 8800 GTS 512MB Alpha Dog XXX Edition. Is its performance as good as its name is long?

As you might expect given the protracted naming scheme of this board, the Alpha Dog XXX GeForce 8800 GTS 512MB is all about factory overclocks while sticking with NVIDIA's reference cooler for this particular part. Thus, we find that this board ships with a core clock speed of 678MHz against 650MHz on a reference part, while shader clocks are bumped to 1700MHz compared to 1625MHz at stock. Memory also gets a small increase, up to 986MHz here compared to 970MHz on a reference GeForce 8800 GTS 512MB.
