Games for Windows Goes Live
The day of "PC Live" is just a couple months away.
Microsoft is kicking its Games for Windows initiative into high gear with the release of Halo 2 for Windows Vista on May 8. The shipping of the best-selling Xbox title coincides with the launch of Games for Windows - Live, a new PC service that mirrors Xbox Live. With Games for Windows - Live, PC gamers can finally mingle with Xbox 360 gamers, play on Microsoft's dedicated servers and earn Achievement Points to prove their worthiness.
Games for Windows - Live offers two tiers of membership: Silver and Gold. The Silver membership is free and comes with considerable benefits including a single gamertag and profile, a common gamerscore between Xbox 360 and PC, single-player Achievements and access to a PC/360 Friends List. You can game online for free just by registering for a Windows Live ID.
