The AIW line (T200) isn’t hard to setup in MCE 2K5 but even with proper drivers it wont work without a suitable “Encoder”. ATI has supplied that “Encoder” in the past in various forms and through differing install processes. Presumably an ATI Vista “Encoder” is still missing so even if these Vista beta 7.2 Catalyst drivers work in “Vista Media Center Edition” the AIW (T200) line probably will not work without such an “Encoder”.

Thanks Gandalfthewhite,… I don’t know why I didn’t see that,… OK, can someone with an AIW (T200) and the new Vista 7.2 beta Catalyst drivers installed please navigate in the registry using regedit to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Media Center\Service\Video\Tuners Look for a registry key with the AIW in it, which should have something like “T200 AVStream” listed in the right pane. If you could cut and past the text after exporting that would be great. If I get a chance I’ll post up what I see in my Vista registry with the older RC0 WDM.

OK here is my Vista AIW registry entry with RC0 WDM + 7.1 Catalyst driver: Quote:
Now the following is the User Settings sub key entry: Quote:
Now lets look at part of the usersettings of what might be a working tuner in Vista MCE: Quote:
Now, I don’t think that we could get these new Vista Catalyst 7.2 beta drivers working in Vista MCE if they are untenable but maybe we can get Vista MCE to at least SEE the AIW (T200) line. Simply export the AIW key and UserSetting sub key then edit all instances of EnabledForMCE"=dword:00000000 off to EnabledForMCE"=dword:ffffffff on. Then import the edited keys. You probably need to reboot but try it before a reboot and after a reboot. If it works, and it very well may not, you should see a tuner detected message automatically after starting Vista MCE unless you haven’t setup Vista MCE before in which case you have to go through the setup manually. Even if you don’t see an auto tuner detected message and you have setup Vista MCE before try navigating to setup and see if you can manually add the AIW tuner. You need to go through the setup again to do this. Good luck! ***edit*** I forgot,… A compliant Vista software “Encoder” must be installed in order for the AIW (T200) to be seen and functional in Vista MCE. So you can try the Main Concept Encoder trial: http://www.mainconcept.com/site/index.php?id=17756 http://www.mainconcept.com/site/index.php?id=17915 Or the ATI “Windows Media Center Edition Encoder” if you have it but ATI / AMD doesn’t seem to offer a download for it anymore. This causes the loss of the installed CD/DVD drives on some Vista systems as stated earlier in this thread so watch out. Or install the latest version of MMC, which could be difficult and is obviously unsupported (bunch or error messages) but should install an “Encoder” (not necessarily a Vista capable “Encoder”). Or try installing the MCEE (Media Center Edition Encoder) pack from the Kram mod pack (works for HDTV Wonder but no reason to believe that this pack alone will work in Vista for the AIW).
