but most of the times you know about SF only when you actually install it.
Since there's no chance in hell I can download a 50+ MB demo, I'll leave this dilemma to the broadband community

I like the game itself, but the demo could of used more time in the oven. Some of the 2D things (effect radius, unit selection circle, damage decals, etc.) are all jaggy, and sound effects weren't playing properly for me. My first impression was of disappointment, but I kept playing and started to really enjoy it after I got fimiliar with how things worked. Overall, I'd say it was worth the download. They really should of waited until they had more polished content before releasing the demo, though...

And no, it doesn't contain Starforce.

Definitely sounds interesting, even with the visual and audio drawbacks...

How is the game in terms of performance? And do the visuals look pretty nice overall?

The game runs fine on my system with a mix of medium and high details. The levels in the demo are all desert levels, so they are obviously a tad on the barren wasteland side and not a good indicator of environment detail. The rest of the graphics are good enough for me, but do leave something to be desired. I suppose that could be because the demo isn't based on final code or content, and maybe it'll look a lot better in the retail game. The shadows are jaggy and ugly, though...I suggest turning them off if you don't want them to cut your eyes.

How is the view zoom out ability; you know, so you can see much of the map and have good strategy? Is view limiting or goofy in any way?

Probably it's because of the installer that requires an amount of free space in the C: drive before transfering the data to E:

I feel they should of made it so you could zoom out further, but it's not too horrible.

This was a big problem for me. The damn installer programs suck up tons of C: space when unzipping, then extracting then copying over to the drive you want.

I ended up having to wipe my HD clean and repartition it much larger.

PartionMagic or some program may work for you but I had too much important data on the drive to risk the procedure.

yeah see if you can run a disk cleanup on C or search C by size, and delete stuff you dont need.

solution to is is make C double or triple windows size, cuz for a demo this was actually small.

Ran like total crap for me... I was up at 1280x1024 and it was running absolutely horrid, so I turned AA completely off, turned the resolution down to 1024x768, and set the graphics level to Medium, and the game still ran like crap.

Not to mention, the gameplay doesn't have any flair to it at all.

Are you kidding me? This game looks and plays great. I don't mean to be rude but do you have ADD at least give it a chance for more than 5 mins before being so harsh.

I tried playing it a bit, but I just couldn't get into it. It isn't my type of game.

i saw a setting for screenshot AA, is that the AA setting?

anyway I turned shadows off and turned shaders to low and its a constant 60 for me. I cant seem to play much these days with last generations best. SIGH
