Think the Scion TC replaces the Celica in N.A. at least that's the rumour I heard. Someone even noted that TC -> Toyota Celica.

Only one problem with that, Toyota doesn't think Canada is a large enough market to bring Scion over! Why they just don't bring limited numbers and sell them at normal Toyota dealers I don't know.

Heard nothing new about the Supra successor though.

It can reach 200mph in top-speed.

I still seen few Toyota Supra Turbo in my area or in NY...they're very nice.

There are still NO current plans to bring the Supra back into production, and even if Toyota does release a new "Sports Car" it will most likely not be under the Toyota brand, or called the Supra.

When Toyota kills a name they do so because that name is no longer marketable, and they don't bring it back. Most people usually then like to point out that the MR2 was killed after 1996 and brought back in 2000, but since the MR2 was still offered outside of North America during 1997-1999, there was actually no gap in worldwide sales of the MR2, just North America.

If Toyota does come out with a new, nice, higher-end sports car, don't expect a Supra.

Will the new Supra still weight nearly 4000 pounds, have a fat ass and be basically a dyno queen like the last one?

The old Supra wasn't 4000lbs, lol, it was heavy, but not 4000lbs, and the fact that there are quite a few running low 8-seconds with full interiors means something too.

Sure a lot of people with them are dyno queens, but they still drive very well, not to mention their braking is superb (held the 70-0 braking record of 149ft for 12 years until the Carrera GT dethroned it with 146ft).

Could have used a more distinct non-jelly-bean like body, and a nicer interior with more comfortable seats, but hey, they're still pretty nice.

Earlier ones (like my 88) were around 3450-3750lbs. The MKIV was about 200lbs lighter, most are around 3300-3400lbs.

I guess everyone is entitled to their opinion. I love the MK2, a lot myself, might be because my dad had one from when I was like 4 until I was 12, I loved that car so much (black on black 86 P-type 5-speed). I definitely like the MKIII more, but I dunno, a clean MK2 is just nice in my books, I see far too many falling apart and rust buckets now though, kinda ruins things.

The only thing the MK1's are good for is their rear ends, lol, to go into my AE86.

PS: This thread needs more Supra!

I think they're doing it with about 1100-1200rwhp, not 100% sure, I'd have to look again, either way, they're not slouches.

My parents had a MK2 when I was in high school and just entering college. I always thought a straight six was smooth. I'm going to be one of those old geezers with a sports car someday.

Very Nice looking car man!!! i was actually looking to buy one not to long ago, but now i think im gonna go with a Grand Prix GTP as soon as i can get a loan, and further into the future get a Supra and still have another car as a beater. Cause i dont wanna make a supra my daily driver all year round, especially up here in Canada, damn snow. Plus i dont make enough money at the moment to afford insurance on two vehicles..

After college I'm definately getting an 80's Toyota Supra or Toyota Corolla GT-S (Trueno AE86) and making it a beast (more than it already is).

TRD, thats a sweet car... Frickin ugly rattle can on that back though... It almost avoided classification as a ricer but that can earned it the stamp.

Sweet car as long your not looking at the back

The problem is the Supra didn't come with twin-tips after 1992, and as such, there is NO aftermarket catback that has it.

Most of the Turbo guys run 3" to 3.5" exhaust, and I don't know why, but the tip is generally slightly larger than the piping.

It's too bad the car benefits from it though, or else I'd be all against it too, heh.

A lot of the large "can" exhausts on Supras are extremely quiet though, especially HKS, their known for being QUIET, a lot of people find them too quiet.

My Supra's getting an HKS Twin-Tip, since it's an 88, and they make a nice 3" twin-tip exhaust for it. .

Behold, the magic behind Jeff's insanity:

Man my tips on the Supra need a cleaning, lol.

EDIT: There are supposedly some new pictures of the new "Supra" floating around, a lot from different angles, with engine choices, etc, from Japan (3.5L V6 from the IS350 and a 5.0L V8 (englarged version of the one in the LS460), both with direct port injection.) That being said, I still hold true to my guns and say if it does come to North America, it won't be a Supra. It will probably be a Lexus.

Toyota Supra turbo can crank to over 1000HP by high-end turbocharger.
