Fixing MS .NET Framework 1.1 if CCC will not start

Hi!

I just wanted to give a heads-up about how to solve problems with Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1, which is required for the CCC to run.

I recently found that my CCC would not start. I tried to re-install the MS .NET Framework 1.1, but it was not possible, or to remove it either - I kept getting an error message about "file not found", etc. I browsed the net, and found that this is not an uncommon problem.

And I found an excellent free software .NET Framework 1.1 removal tool here:

It's only 230 KB and it worked perfectly to remove my .NET 1.1 only.

Then I downloaded the MS .NET Framework 1.1 package from here:

(20MB - small for Microsoft!) and it installed without problems. I did not even have to re-boot.

And now CCC runs without problems!!

I hope this may help some other guys for whom the CCC will not start.

I'm wondering... Did you try a .net 2.0 only install? If so, how did it work?

With NET 2.0 only you get constant CLI.exe errors.

.Net 2.0 & .Net 1.1 run side by side. But you need 1.1 installed to run the CCC (not just 2.0)

I have just .net 2.0 and I dont have any problems at all.

Excellent, didn't use to work. or maybe my install was buggered up too. I have both installed anyway currently, as I was moving a project 1.1 to 2.0.

I'll try just 2.0 when I reinstall windows next week.

Strange thing... I've received shutdown errors a few times now (it's c - something so either CLI or a creative labs service)... but it's not reporting these errors in my event log.

The .NET Framework is known to have problems when it's raining or windy.
Microsoft has acknowledged this.

The download works flawless here, maybe you need to clear cookies/temp internet files
