Default Print job not cancelling?

I seem to have a stuck print job in the tray. I've tried canceling, restarting, resuming everything but nothing works, its not cancelling or restarting. I cant even seem to print other things off. How could i solve this? Thanks

EDIT: I've also tried restarting both computer and printer but the job still remains in the tray application.

It seems to be happening when paper gets jammed and then it keeps saying restarting but nothing happens.

I know this shouldnt be in this forum but plz dont delete it yet. I have 50 photo's that need printing by Thursday as its for my late granfathers funeral and this really isnt helping .

Thanks all.

Happy New Year to you all.

EDIT: The printer im using is the Hp psc 1317

Stop the print server service and delete the files in:

XP
c:\windows\system32\spool\PRINTERS
2K
c:\winnt\system32\spool\PRINTERS

Start the print server service.

Could be. On my system it's spoolsv.exe

command line (cmd.exe)
Stop:
net stop "Print spooler"

Start:
net start "Print Spooler"

In services.msc it is listed as "Print Spooler"

EDIT:

Restarting the PC will not remove the files pending to print. Put your printer on hold, do a test print, and then reboot. Guess what? You will still have job's Que.

Uninstall your printer drivers. Reboot. Then go to Windows\System32\Spool\Drivers directory and empty the contents of these two folders:

w32x86
PRINTERS

Reboot. Reinstall your printer drivers.

Oh ok. Funny thing is i did about 10 prints which worked perfectly, no paper james or anything but recently it keeps jamming up and being a b!tch. Really helps when you got 50+ print outs on photo paper to do.

Unplugging the printer power cord and rebooting the computer usually does it for me.
