Default ATi drivers and DVI LCD display

Hi,
Has anyone started X with "fglrx" driver on a LCD w/ DVI connect ?
If so, please post your refresh rates frojm your xorg.conf.
I've tried both the refresh rates from the manufacter (Hyundai) and the ones recommended by "fglrx" for DVI, with no result. If i change the driver to "radeon" it works great, but of course with no DRI.
Any hints are welcomed, thanks ...

If you have a radeon 9200 (or earlier?), unsupported DVI is a known problem:

What is exactly your card model? I am able to get DRI support on my radeon 9200 with the radeon driver. You have to be careful to take the right GL library (on my system: /usr/X11R6/lib/libGL.so.1.2) which is different for the radeon and the fglrx driver. I have an XFree 4.3 server patched by debian (4.3.0.dfsg.1), part of sarge.
Unfortunately, the radeon has roughly about half the speed of the fglrx and newer GL extensions are not supported (ut2004 does not work, ut does).

when you say change driver to "radeon", do you change files loaded, or do you change the single line your xorg.conf file?

I say this, as I too had problems with this, however what I did was copied the generated files fglrx related device bit into the original xorg.conf, and it worked, without problems

Hi people,

For 8.16, we are doing a lot of work regarding displays. If you have been having problems with displays not lighting up with the drivers, please contact me mtippett@ati.com, and I will look to get you on the beta program.

Regards,

Matthew

Just change the line in xorg.conf from "fglrx" to "radeon". That's all.
