Default Need Help with VIVO

Hi, I have a ATI X800 Pro with VIVO and I'm not sure how to get video in(capture video) to work. Should my card automatically recognize my connection to either my camcorder or vcr when I plug it into the VIVO ping in the back? In my control panel I can't find anything to turn this on since it only have a tv or monitor options which is for the Video out only. Do I have to install the CCC instead of the control panel to get the Video in option or it doesn't matter? I'm running on Windows Xp MCE 2005. Right now I have no clue how to get this detected or even know how to get it detected.

Is there supposed to be something different between a VIDEO IN/OUT S VIDEO cable? I have a S VIDEO cable with a 4 ping and an 8 ping.

I was wondering do I need to connect a cable to the yellow jack to something to have my Video in to work? All I know is that this extra yellow jack is for you to connect it to the front if you needed it.

Anyhelp would greatly be appreciated and any link to the tutorial would help also.

Thanks!

You should have received a cable with two s-video (one in one out) and two composite video (again one in one out) connections which attaches to the 8 pin port on the back of the card. To enable video-in the WDM drivers need to be installed (these come with the latest catalst driver pack if you get the full download). When the WDM driver is installed video capture aware programs (such as windows movie maker) should list the ATI Rage theater video capture device as one of their capture options. Don't know about the yellow connector, it may not even be enabled on some cards. If your card didn't come with the special video in/out adaptor contact your manufacturer/supplier as this should be a standard part for a VIVO card.

Hmm, yeah I remember there supposed to be a cable that came along with the card but now I'm not sure which cables. I know it should work with any s video cable (the 6 ping) one that connected to the back of my video card.

The problem might be the WDM driver since the latest one right now doesn't let me install on my Windows Xp MCE 2005. There might be some complication sincd I bought a Sapphire Theatrix Theatre 550 Pro tv turner card and I have to install their WDM driver that came with it for the card to work. So is there a different between a Theatre 550 Pro WDM and the X800 Pro WDM driver?

I don't have MCE so I not really qualified to answer this, but from the looks of it you might be out of luck as far as video in goes with the X800, ATI say it isn't supported. Whether this is a limitation of MCE or the ATI drivers I don't know. Why don't you just use the the sapphire tv card to connect to any video sources you need to?
From the looks of the sapphire website you should be able to at least use a composite input (assuming MCE supports this). Perhaps you would be better off contacting ATI to find out if they are going to be providing WCM drivers for MCE in the future?
As for the cable you will need to lay your hands on the VIVO cable which should have come with your X800. I'm not 100% sure but I'd imagine that using a standard S-Video cable connected directly to the back of the card would only provide S-Video out at best. Standard S-Video cables are not 6-pin they are 4-pin, whether they are in or out, a 6-pin cable might fit into the back or your card but you will have problems finding any video source with an s-video socket that accepts a 6-pin cable. The reason that the X800 has a non standard socket is so that it can provide both input and output at the same time.

I have an ASUS x800xt pe with vivo. You definitely have to use the included cable. It has composite and s-video in and out. Using the theater overlay controls in CCC it's a simple matter to have a second monitor (my television using composite) show the overlayed video. If you come in with your camera, it will also so in the overlay. Works great. Couldn't find a tutorial on it anywhere though, and the CCC controls took ALOT of tweaking to get it to output. Once I got it working, I made it a profile so when I do video work I load the profile and when I'm gaming I have profiles set for each game. Hope this helps.

I'm still very pissed off with ATI and their products. There is not a single tutorial or manual showing people how to set this up. I'm not getting any detection since I can't even install the ATI WDM for my X800 Pro since I have a Sapphire Theatrix Theatre 550 Pro and I can only use the WDM that cam with that card. On top on that, I'm using WIndows Xp MCE 2005.

So far seems like no one on this board is able to help me seems like most have no clue how to use it themselves since ATI never have a manual showing you how to set this up properly.

Like I've been asking, how do you know where to look if your camcorder or VCR is being detected?

Ihave never have this kind of problem with using an Nvidia product. Pluging it in and let the card detect it and easily output my card to my tv with no problem with their easy to use control panel. But ATI control panel of their Displays is freaking retarded and confusing.

I havent played with it yet, however..

It shouldnt be a detection such as "new hardware detected".. It will simply detect an input signal. Using things such as Windows Movie Maker, I see that I am able to select ATI WDM drivers for an input to record from. I dont see how this should be complicated unless there are other factors that Im missing..

I simply should be able to select an output from say my TV (S-Video), and input it into the supplied VIVO cable. Fire up Windows Movie Maker, select the WDM input, and record. Anything Im missing here?

(That yellow connector should be like a connector on a sound card *for audio*)

I know its slightly off subject, but I can't resist after seeing this thread and the close-up of the X850XT connectors. Anyone know if its possible to capture video on the yellow card connector and have the YPBPR dongle connected to the DIN on the back of the X850XT? Simultaneously? Where can I find a pinout for the yellow video connector?

I'm considering running the yellow connector to an RCA/SVideo connector on the back of my case and to a camera while having the YPBPR dongle connecting to a front projector.

EDIT: There also seems to be some confusion in forums about the yellow connector being for audio, however, I don't believe this is true as I've found this...

http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/vid...ay/r420_3.html

"Just like the RADEON 9800 XT PCB, this one is equipped with a standard connector for additional power supply, as the power consumption of this solution doesn’t allow to give up additional power supply. Next to the additional PSU connector, there is a yellow connector, looking like an internal audio port of the contemporary sound cards. ATI Technologies representative claims that it is none other but a composite video-In, which allows implementing the video In on the front panel of the PC case with the help of a special cable attached to this connector. This is a pretty original and non-standard solution, which we haven’t yet seen anywhere, however, it will definitely make sense in certain situations."

There is a second connector (smaller, and white) that appears to be for audio.

Thanks,

-spearsd

I sent this request to ATI support; if I receive a response, I post it under topic "ATI Rage Theater Connector Pinouts". Of course, if somebody else already has the info, I'd greatly appreciate them posting it.

"My new Radeon X850XT has two internal connectors for which I'd like to know the pinouts.

The first connector is a yellow four pin connector that appears to be a video connection for the rage theater chip.

The second connector appears to be a white three pin audio connector for the rage theater chip.

I'd like to run a cable from both connectors to a 5.25 bay plate in the front of my case and need to know the pinouts to create this cable. This will allow me to free up the DIN connector in back for Component Video (YPBPR).

Any pinout info would be greatly appreciated."

Thanks,

spearsd

Default PS2 via video in?

Hello guys,

Ive just got my Powercolor Radeon X800XT PE. This card is awesome... anyways... i'd like to hook up n play my PS2 via the VIVO input, but i tried the ATI MMC Software's Video IN and all i get is some static picture/garbage... any ideas? Is there any way i could make this all go smoothly?

I have the latest Catalyst 5.4 CCC with the WDM drivers perfectly installed.

Thanks in advance.

Does anybody know if the VIVO plugs are HOT SWAPABLE? Do I have to shut down the pc to hook it up to the card? There is ZERO information on this in my manual.
