Angry ShopATI cancelled my x850XT order!

I ordered a X850 XT from ATI.com on December 1st as soon as it was announced (12/1/2004 08:23:35 AM). I just received an e-mail today that they cancelled my order.

Anyone else get their orders cancelled? I have always ordered the latest and greatest cards from ATI as soon as they are announced and never once had this problem.

I am so furious. After almost 3 months of waiting I can not beleive that they pulled this on me. Here is the letter:

Dear *******,

We are sorry to inform you that we will no longer be able to fulfill your current order on the RADEON X850 XT.

The RADEON X800 PLATINUM is available in limited supply at our retailer partners such as Best Buy and CompUSA.
In addition, we have only begun to start taking pre-orders on the latest RADEON X800XL. There are a limited number of these units so if you would like to place your order please do so at your earliest convenience.
For your patience and loyalty we have authorized our ShopATI Online Store staff to offer you a bonus if you decide to replace your existing order with a preorder for the RADEON X800XL. This bonus offer is time sensitive and expires this Friday at 9AM Eastern Central Time. When contacting the ShopATI Store please mention Priority Code: ****** to receive your bonus offer. Please call 1-888-9SHOPATI or 1-888-974-6728, Monday through Friday, 9AM - 9PM EST.
Your patience is appreciated and we look forward to hearing from you, ****.
Sincerely,

ShopATI Customer Care

Maybe they were ready to fill your order, but your credit card was maxed?

RFLAMO! I've been to several Best Buys and CompUSA's recently, for a hard drive upgrade. Not once did I see any X850, or X800XL in any retail store. That incudes Frys in Fountain Valley as well! Also not one of these cards are available on the online webistes ATI listed!

Yeah, thats pretty funny. Almost as funny as BB and CompUSA not having PCI-E 6800GT's and 6800 Ultra's. They are not even listed either.

It don't know too many hardcore gamers who would buy their parts from either or those stores anyway. Especially Compusa where everything is $100 more than what you find online.

Well what do you know... CompUSA's website just updated with the X800XL listed, unfortunately it's not in stock "coming soon".

Allstarshop has X800XTPE sapphire cards for a good price and in stock.

http://www.allstarshop.com/shop/prod...CC5P8EWHKN2UX5

So not all high end cards are out of stock everywhere.

They also have X800XT AIW cards. $560 though.

Retail Sapphire X800XTPE

hehe, I'm sorry. Let me redefine "everywhere"......

I thought we were talking maistream retailers like newegg. Either online or sticks and bricks shops....... I might not consider allstarshop.com a mainstream retailer as I think I would Newegg.com .....'course I could be wrong.

We got 6 x850's locally at ""several"" hole-in-the-wall computer shops. We tried online (Newegg, Monarch, etc....) but they were always out of stock - none of the large retailers in Dallas had them. We tried places like Fry's Electronics and Bestbuy's an many other national chains with no luck.....

I canceled my x800 xl order (placed january 12th) because I called them on friday the 18th and they told me no more until march. that's too long of a wait, I'm not playing that game. I might end up waiting for NV50 and RV520 at that pace.

my BFG 6800GT OC is coming tomorrow, I can't wait. screw you ATI, nice playing with you.

newegg X850XT = $489

ZZF x850XT = $479

mwave x850XT = $459

buyxg = x850XT (retail) = $490

All of the above, are in stock, and under MSRP. newegg has had it in stock for over a week, but you said you looked there?

Once again, they are not hard to find, even from a "big" online store.

Then order somewhere else? They are easy to find online too. Starting around $360, which is well below what you would find a GT for. Or go to CompUSA or Frys, and try to find one at $300 as many people have done.

Default ATI Radeon X800 XL

Well, the problem is that all Radeon X800 XL based Graphic's Cards are over priced to like $349 to $499 i.e. yes I mean the slower Asus X800 XL card.

The ATI Shop is selling the X800 XL for a cool $299. This card "IS" suppost to be at least $100 cheaper than the X800 Pro, but the other companies are taking advantage & selling them for well over $299.

That is not good business. And ATI has no right to cancel your Order with them. Not very business like,
