Talking Good Times: Half-Life 2 Is In My Hands!

Just thought I'd share this little picture with you...

That's right, it's in the wild! Paypal me $10 for the B&M location (j/k)!

I'll let you all know what I think about it shortly.

Lemme guess you work for a major electronics retailer and your boss let you buy one early.

err. shens???

If true, it also says you live in ohio. The farthest distance inside of ohio is around 5 hours. Please inform me of location. I would like to buy and play. Actually you may not be able to play, i think it requires a steam validation of some sort.

I think ayabe is right.

No, actually, I have no connections. I woke up for work this morning to find the following message on my machine:

"Hi, Mr. ******, this is **** from Electronics Boutique, I'm just calling to let you know your pre-order for Half-Life 2 for PC in ready for pickup, today, Thursday. If you can't make it in today we'll hold it for you."

Man, I wanted to call off... I ended up begging someone else to come in so I could leave early.

:re-edit: the post below me has a point, location removed

WTF they are gonna get B7 for that. I thought if Valve heard about retailers were letting it go early they were gonna give us Steam users the goods.

Actually, the same store released Planes of Power 2 days early as well.

And, my CD Key has successfully established my Steam Subscription to Half-Life 2 Retail Standard, I don't think there's gonna be any problem playing it

what store is it from? can't hurt to tell us.

Also valve stated before that if a major game store breaks the street date early, then they will go ahead and unlock the game on steam...

oh and do us a favour.

place all 6 cds in a row on your table, along with say the back of the box, so I can prove to some morons its not fake.

Well, there are only 5 CDs, but, OK. Maybe the collector's edition has more? I asked about the collector's edition, and the guy behind the counter said, "I don't think it comes out until..." and as he looked at his computer I finished his sentence. "The 16th."

I also showed the other sides of the inserts.

:edit: I don't think that the EB in some town of 15,000-ish people is gonna be considered a 'big games store' by valve. But for what it's worth (and by that I mean, if it can let me play HL2 now... sorry, Jeff), the town would be *removed again, they stopped selling it so why bother?*

The collectors edition is a single DVD I think, so one disc. Also, when the EB guy said the collector edition isn't til the 16th, did you tell him the regular edition they're selling out can't be played at all till the 16th too. I'm sure most people that preordered and picked it up know this, but I wonder how many calls they are getting asking why they can't play the game.

Edit: Which cover did you get. Also, what does it exactly say on the box about the internet connection?

Huh. There is an Offline Mode. Funny that I didn't notice that before. Makes me a happy camper, though. I won't have to live at a friend's house (like I am right now).

I'll have to take pics of the QR card again, they were really blurry.
