I went up to eb games the other day and noticed this poster... I asked the guy instore what the deal was, as usual with EB staff he had no clue but he looked it up and said they were expecting 9600XT's and X800PR0's bundled with Doom 3 on August 3rd. sorry about the pics, they're taken with a mobile phone. |

Could be interesting. I wonder if id would whore their games out to more than one graphics company?

If thats true that would quite a coup for Ati. This big game associated with Nvidia this whole time, all of a sudden bundled with their competitor. Which is why I have a hard time beleiving it since you would think Nvidia would make some agreement to have exclusives. |

Well I'm thinking it's one of two things: A) Most likely it's a special deal for EB that if you buy a Radeon they give you a free copy. Though I don't remember EB selling vid cards but they may start doing so. B) ATI has bought id so they plan to bundle DooM3 with the higher end cards.

I've never seen anything more than a keyboard at EB. Never a video card.

Not deliberately trying to be a wet blanket, buuut...how much over MSRP would EB ask for an X800 Pro? Somehow, I doubt even DOOM 3 would balance that out...considering ebgames.com is listing a Connect3D R9800 Pro for $399...! |

hmm.. that's strange. BTW, an EB I used to hang out would indeed sell video cards so it's not out of the ordinary..

Does that mean you get Half Life 2 and Doom III in the same video card purchase? Funny how Doom III beat Half Life 2 even though the deal with ATI was about a year ago. I'm not trying to start a flame war about that crap, I just thought it was funny.

Many EB's sold sound cards and video cards for years but don't much anymore. I think one of my local ones might still have some video cards however. |

Will doom 3 even run that well on a 9600xt? WHy would they bundle d3 with a video card that can barely handle it? I hope it the 9600xt CAN handle Doom3 because that's what I got until they ship my x800xtpe!

ebgames has the right to throw in a free game when you buy a particular vidcard you know (and print a poster too!) ![]() i.e. this is an EB deal not an ATI/id deal Last edited by tranCendenZ : Jul 21, 2004 at 11:51 PM. |

hmmm EB used to sell video cards around the time of the Radeon 9700's release but they stopped a while ago. But it seems video cards are selling at EB again now... http://www.ebgames.com/ebx/categorie...rchword=radeon |

Did anyone noticed that Ady's location is Australia? Perhaps it's an EB Australia Exclusive...

G'day Hi everyone, my first post ever so bit of a newb so bear with me...... why is there a little picture of a woman in the tool bar.... that's beside the point. That eb deal is Australia only to my knowledge and all it is, is EB giving away a copy of Doom 3 with a purchase of a video card from eb, whether it be a GeForce or a Radeon these aren't deals done by ATI, nVidia and whoever is publishing Doom 3 in the land of Oz. These aren't pre-packaged by manufacturer. It's EB giving away some of their stock when you purchase something else from them. Hope that clarifies some mis-conceptions, that lead to World War 3 or something. Hope to post soon again and have a nice night. |

I saw those posters all over my local EB. I'll go in tomorrow to check out what's going on. Not that I don't believe you JackSkelton... I figure as long as it's 10mins up the road I might as well call in and have a look ![]()

yeah, I only just noticed.I can tell black hole sun that it isn't a chop, it's for real. Yes, it is in Australia, so it might be some exclusive thing, but it's definitely happening. The guy at EB definitely said it was the 9600XT (128MB) and the X800PRO (256MB). I remember because he said "nine thousand six hundred XT" If you guys want more pics or for me to ask more questions then I can. I guess we will all find out for sure soon enough anyway. |
