Try using the "smartgart" and push "retest all" button. Should work... or then not.

Heh, usually this problem is created by SmartGart. I would try resetting all, and if that doesn't work...well, the only thing that worked for me when I got this problem was to reinstall Windows. Everytime I do a clean install I sometimes get the problem, but if I install in this order: XP SP1 and Updates Video Drivers DX9 ...then I don't get the problem. Dunno why, but it works. If all else fails you might try that. |

Minos, when you uninstall the drivers and look in hardware manager, do any of the 2 adapters show up with an error on it? it will usually show a ! next to the adapter and if you click on properties, it would probably say device cannot start. Check that and let me know.

Download drivercleaner and uninstall the drivers. Run drivercleaner in safe mode to remove all previous ATI junk. Let windoze detect the ATI card as standard pci device. Unpack the drivers by canceling setup before it goes into full install mode. Go to device manager and highlight your video driver and choose update your driver and navigate to where you have unpacked the drivers. Repeat for the 2nd device selecting the 2nd device and then reboot. Dumbfart shouldn't be installed and your problems should be gone.

CookiePuss : No the cards are correctly installed. The PIT : i did that 2 days ago .. didnt resolved the problem. But yesterday I found something kinda strange... maybe a solution. Now in DXDiag all the 3 buttons are enabled .. but the game I play (star wars galaxies) dont go better .. i would say it goes slower than before... so i dont really understand but i will post on Sony Online Entertainment to ask. So here the "crazy" solution. It worked. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (http://www.computing.net/drivers/www...orum/1646.html) So I looked further on the Internet and I found the following page: www.andrew.cmu.edu/~twm/stuff/directdraw.html This page offered the wierdest solution to a problem I ever encountered. It suggested the following: - start NetMeeting (!!!) - in the options menu, select remote desktop sharing - follow the wizard through, as if you are installing it - after it's started, go to the same option and disable remote desktop sharing After this, DXDiag now showed all acceleration buttons being enabled!!! I only had to enable Direct3D acceleration, because I had disabled it before. I could now also use the 'Test Direct3D' button and it worked!!! :-D Not only did it fix this problem, it also fixed a problem which I thought wasn't connected to DirectX (I will explain it here shortly, though it is a bit of topic). Since a few months (and now I guess it started when I installed DirectX 8.0) my Divx movies played with a very bad frame rate in full screen mode, one frame per second or so. Also, normal mpeg movies wouldn't scale any more: so when I selected zoom 200% or full screen, it still showed as 100%. I tried to solve these problems using different movie players and new drivers. And after a while I had given up the idea to find a solution. But now I fixed the DirectX problem, these problems have also dissappeared!!! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ![]() |

I would UNINSTALL both the drivers and the control panel and reboot. When windows asks for the driver for your video card run the ATI driver installer and pay attention to the directory it extracts all the files to. Once it's done extracting the drivers and asks if you want to continue cancel it. Now you should still have the new hardware wizard open so point that to where the ATI installer extracted the drivers. Install both drivers this way. Then install the control panel and reboot. That's how I enable texture acceleration, I've never heard of that guys way.
