I use Mplayer to play pretty much everything from .avi and .mpeg to .wmv and .mov even does realmedia just need the codecs for all www.mplayerhq.hu/homepage/ |

Xine (my personal choice.. Mplayer/Xine really is a Matter of Taste(tm)--you would do best to try both and stick with whichever you like) is available at http://xine.sourceforge.net/ |

If you opt for Xine, you should check this out: http://cambuca.ldhs.cetuc.puc-rio.br/xine/ there you'll find everything you need.

They are both good, (and I compile and use both on my systems) But I find I use mplayer much more, expecially when compairing the gxine frontend to mplayerplug-in for browser based streaming media. http://mplayerplug-in.sf.net is much nicer, expecially with the latest version which is far less buggy than previous versions. |
