I use Mplayer to play pretty much everything from .avi and .mpeg to .wmv and .mov even does realmedia just need the codecs for all

Xine (my personal choice.. Mplayer/Xine really is a Matter of Taste(tm)--you would do best to try both and stick with whichever you like) is available at http://xine.sourceforge.net/

They are both good, (and I compile and use both on my systems)

But I find I use mplayer much more, expecially when compairing the gxine frontend to mplayerplug-in for browser based streaming media.

http://mplayerplug-in.sf.net is much nicer, expecially with the latest version which is far less buggy than previous versions.

I made the mistake of installing that plugin. How do I tell it to stop trying to play ALL videos, not just streaming ones?
