Wunderchu is still being judged by the masses

Default Over 1/3 of software sold in 2003 was pirated

http://www.ctv.ca/servlet/ArticleNew...73454_84615773

...interesting quotation, IMO:

Quote:
Beth Scott, a BSA vice-president, said a 10 per cent reduction in software piracy across western and eastern Europe could bring more than 250,000 new jobs and 19 billion euros ($31 billion) in tax revenues by 2006.

The article makes an incorrent assumption though. Let's take Photoshop as an example. The retail version costs what, $600 or so? The same person who buys it off a street corner for $10 isn't gonna pay 60 times for the same product. If they couldn't find a pirated copy they'd probably just do without.

You can buy Photoshop CS for $2 here.
Every cd cost only $2, some of them have more than one software in them. The piracy is strong here, VERY strong, it's very sad indeed.

To fight piracy you have to set very VERY low prices. My copy of XP costed me only $39 ( and that includes Office XP, 2000, Windows 2000, Visio XP, Frontpage, etc too) ALL LEGAL.

The same happens to dvd's, cd's and books.

I think what he's trying to say that piracy is so rampant where he is that retailers have to drop drices insanely low.
