"Stars are forming in the Soul of the Queen of Aethiopia. More specifically, a large star forming region called the Soul Nebula can be found in the direction of the constellation Cassiopeia, who Greek mythology credits as the vain wife of a King who long ago ruled lands surrounding the upper Nile river. The Soul Nebula houses several open clusters of stars, a large radio source known as W5, and huge evacuated bubbles formed by the winds of young massive stars. Located about 6,500 light years away, the Soul Nebula spans about 100 light years and is usually imaged next to its celestial neighbor the Heart Nebula (IC 1805)." -https://apod.nasa.gov/apod/ap171004.html

I spent a couple nights last week trying to get some of this before moonrise. Got about 7.5 hours worth and am fairly happy with it. About 6500 light years away, fired up by the star cluster IC 1848 inside of the gases.

I feel a little out gunned. But here are two of my fav nature shots from my phone(LG G4).

Light was actually this color when shot. This was during BC's wildfires. So the light all over the metro Vancouver area was golden when I took this.

UBC's Nitobe Memorial Garden this fall.

Hollywood Sign Pano from the drone. DJIs software for stitching could use some work though.

Bought a cheap ring flash to pair with the tamron, went around the neigbourhood looking for bugs at night.
Focusing could be better, all of these are hand held, have a hard time focusing manual with my poor eyesight.

It's amazing how many spiders you see at night in a short walk, just pointed the focus assist lamp to any dark corner and there was a spider

Sorry, didn't see this for the past months.

Camera: Canon 70D

Telescope: https://www.telescope.com/catalog/pr...col4-prodtitle

...acts as a 610 mm f4 lens. I used to shoot mainly with a 70-200mm f4L, but upgraded to this last year.

Mount: Celestron CG-5

Autoguider: Orion SSAG with 50 mm guide scope.

Laptop running BackyardEOS: https://www.otelescope.com/files/fil...kyardeos-3116/

Processing: Pixinsight https://pixinsight.com/ and Photoshop, mainly.

Additional: Patience and anger management when things go awry...which is pretty much always.

Looking forward to seeing from photos from you with it.. I'm sure they will be good, but the camera itself is an absolute stunner! Congrats!
