I took a ton of pictures. One big panoramic that wraps all the way around. I couldn't stop staring at the mountains around me. I'm going back soon for more pics but so far I think Guanella Pass is one of my favorite spots to visit in the Arapaho National Park.

I'll take more pics for sure.

We've never been, but if I get to semi-retire like I'm hoping next year ...

I bought a Panasonic Lumix LX15 (10 for you in the US) last week, but it had poor performance in high contrast conditions, especially in bright light. Its light metering was off, and the sensor was likely wonky. In bright areas that burned through, it produced either horizontal or vertical grey line artefacts both in RAW and jpeg. The only way I could get proper results in daylight conditions was by underexposing in full manual mode, but that's not what point-and-shoots should be about. It's a bit shame, because the lens on that camera is pretty good. Before noticing the artefacts, I'd been very positively surprised with the image quality. The camera worked really well in less challenging conditions, and seemed to have a very good low light performance.

I returned the Panasonic and got a Canon G7X Mark II instead, we'll see how this one works. The specs are quite similar in both cameras, the Canon lens is nearly as good, though there are slightly fever manual control options as far as i can see. Ergonomics of the Canon feel better than in the Panasonic. I didn't bother testing Sony's RX100 V, because it's way more expensive than I'm prepared to invest at the moment.

That's a bummer. Loved my LX7, wish I never sold it.. I know not to long ago they were going used for more then I paid new..

Hopefully the G7Xii works out for you!

I compared pics taken with the G7X mkII and with the Panasonic I had returned, and the image quality of the Pana was better in most conditions, apart from that light metering & sensor issue. Its lens is sharper and level of detail in pics seems to be a bit higher. I bought another Pana LX15, this time with a working sensor, and went for a comparison shooting walk, and also shoot a series of our very lively daughter indoors. Here's a short summary of my personal experiences, which might help if someone else happens to be looking for a point-and-shoot in this price range.

The results of landscape photography are pretty similar, but in a pixel hunt the Pana takes a minor victory in level of detail. The differences are so small that one cannot see them in publishable size pics, and to see them in print one would have to make very very big prints. AF works well in both. There are small differences in light metering, but use of EV compensation is needed with both, anyways, so nothing major there.

When shooting indoors, the Pana takes a clearer win. Its lens and AF cope better with the lower light and fast moving objects like a 15 month old runner. Pics of the perpetually moving kid taken with the Canon often end up being a bit soft, and there's little one can do about it. Pana can keep up with her, and most pics are sharp.

The ergonomics of the G7X mkII are a bit better. Being able to do EV compensation with a single thumb operation is nice. In the Pana one needs to push a separate EV button before the mechanical switch starts changing EV. The Canon also has rubber pads for fingers, making it stabler to handle. Canon's tilting screen also wins, as it moves both up and down.

Considering all that, and the most frequent uses we have for the camera, I ended up keeping the Panasonic and returned the Canon. Both are good cameras, and generally recommending one over the other is impossible.

It's difficult. The dimensions of the shareable image are at the end of the url. If they are changed manually to full dimensions, the Google server gives a 403 error. I've not found a working method. Full size pics can be put into shareable folders, but that's not very useful in forum use.

Ha! I changed both figures to the original size

So do not use the lin provided by Google.
Open the pic full screen, then right button and get image location

Two snaps from a trip to Switzerland with Panasonic LX15. I didn't have time for any concentrated shooting, only random snapshots when walking to and from meetings:

Old town of Baden

Meiringen in souther Switzerland, close to Grimsel pass. We went up the pass, but there were low clouds, so nothing to take pictures of except mist and some technical stuff inside the mountain which might be of interest for those who know what the mountain lab there is used for, boring for others.

I just got back from a trip to Kenya and Tanzania, and brought my Panasonic Lumix GF1, a 14-45mm and a 45-200mm lens, I only used the 14-45 once on a tour through a fishing village, the rest of the time the longer lens remained on my camera. Some AF issues with the grass and the animals competing, but I'll start posting a few pics soon.

My work's been related to this stuff for the last 16 years, so whatever damage has been done has been done previously. The kiddo's turned out to be just fine.

I was actually positively surprised at how low the radiation levels were in many places, I don't think we saw dose rates higher than 1 microsievert per hour when travelling the area. Of course there are still areas in the woods where dose rates are high and will remain high for a long time, and there's still not much one can do inside the Safe Containment. I got a higher dose from the airtravel than at site.

I'd like to have spent more time in Pripyat, but this was a business visit, so I didn't have much time for shooting in areas from where I could post pics to the internet.

Nuclear waste management. I'm specialized in disposal issues and long-term safety of aspects of nuclear waste management, but am familiar with nuclear waste processing and other related stuff also. I went to Chernobyl plant to get an overview of recent developments.

Haven't been to this thread in a while, last time I was here I had a d3100 but that one broke and had to sell it, bought an old d70 off the adorama used section for 50 bucks and a 55-200 and been shooting my doggos as well as doggos and other animals I see on the streets.
Here's some from the last couple of months:
