Default A glimpse of ATI's Rialto

Lately ATI has been eliciting criticism from hardware reviewers due to lack of new AGP solutions geared towards mainstream and value market segments. Although their R420 has proven to be an excellent solution in upscale segment both for AGP and PCI Express platforms, many reviewers are finding it harder and harder to recommend ATI's aging mainstream AGP product line against Nvidia's NV43 solutions, which can be bridged to operate on AGP interface when needed.

HKEPC has managed to snag a picture of ATI's Rialto chip, which will enable ATI to bridge their native PCI Express solutions to AGP interface.

good post. hope the bridge chip is actively cooled or that it runs cooler than the nvidia one. i think there have been multiple people complaining that the 6600gt bridge chip from nvidia runs really really hot.(and isn't actively cooled)

I wonder if it needs a heatsink, like nVidia's bridge

if it is actively cooled, it better not have some stupid small fan that runs at 8,000RPM.

Intel

So there is the chip that will be in my X800XL AGP8x

Lets just hope that its cool enough to be passively cooled, and that they bridge the cards in Q2 2005?
