Memory DDR3 Accelerates: DDR3-1800 SDRAM Roundup

X-bit Labs tests several pairs of DDR3-1880 DIMMs and decides who is who in a brave new DDR3 memory world.

Overclocker DDR3 SDRAM continues to become faster. For our today’s roundup we managed to collect memory kits from Corsair, OCZ and Super Talent that can work at 1800MHz and higher frequencies. Let’s take a closer look at them and find out if they will be able to win this duel against DDR2 solutions.

Default AMD and DDR3

It should be interesting to see how well DDR3 will perform once AMD releases processors that support DDR3 memory. If AMD provides support for top speed memory and supports the sort of overclocking we have seen here, the performance gap between Intel and AMD may shrink(or increase if AMD manages to gain the performance crown with their K10 design).

Only time will tell, but AMD not jumping on the DDR3 bandwagon will allow AMD to see what is needed to make DDR3 competitive. Remember that DDR2 performance still lags DDR1 memory at the slower speeds, or at least it did when DDR2 was still very new and untested.

Default

i've been waiting for a review about the ddr3 dimms. thanks!
But as for now, i think its best people wait till next spring to upgrade considering the new hardware should be able to run most higher speed ddr3s at normal clock.
