I'm close. I'm suprised your CPU score was so low. your video scores really seemed to spank my crashfire though.

Since you have a X1800 XT and 7800 GTX. Which one do you prefer? I just got my kids X1800 XT and I'm thinking about giving him my 7800 GTX and taking the X1800 XT. What do you think?

![]() 5.13 Drivers Score = 4595 http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm06=10758 This is running the overclocks I normally run my system at. Overclocking didn't raise my score much, just from like 4100 to almost 4600. Or maybe that is pretty significant, I guess that's what, a 10% increase? I hear that the R520 series doesn't score as well as it should, as 3dmark06 doesn't make good use of flow control, and the shader 2.0 stuff is biased towards nvidia. That's all from Techreport, I have no idea, we'll have to see and I'm excited about R580. LOL HisSVt2 I was freaking out for a second, wondering how you got scores on par with mine with x1600 XT, then realized you were running in Crossfire, lol Last edited by Ravenhaft : Jan 18, 2006 at 10:10 PM. |

![]() I'm taking these initial scores with a grain of salt, to say the least. Until it is known precisely why NV cards score so much higher than comparable ATI cards, I'd say something smells a wee bit fishy here. Could just be a lack of optimizations on ATI's part, but I'm leaning more towards this benchmark being written specifically NV hardware in mind. ![]() Edit: for the sake of clarity, I'm not saying this is a bad benchmark (yet) because it produces higher scores on NV hardware, but because it produces significantly higher scores across the entire range of NV hardware. When you've got a benchmark that says a 6600GT is significantly faster than an X800 GTO, something is wrong with said benchmark. Let alone when said benchmark produces a higher SM 2.0 score for the 6600GT than the X800 GTO. That's just plain silly. There is absolutely no evidence of the 6600GT being faster @ SM2.0 than the X800 GTO in the real world, so why does this benchmark produce this result? ![]() The X1800XT is running at 690/800. I think the results are getting too distorted by dual cpu scores to be a very good benchmark. These results don't translate to real world gaming score at all anymore. With any current games, and probably for quite a bit of this year the faster single core performs better than any dual core CPU. Also, this version will seemingly only run smooth if you spend more than 800 Euro on a single video card. This benchmark gets uninstalled until I upgrade to R600/G80....when it probably should have been released. Slideshows hurt my eyes. ![]() |

![]() OK, finally got around to running it on my home machines. Normally the CPUs are overclocked, but for these tests, I kept everything at factory default http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm06=9550 http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm06=8592 Pretty intense benchmark. |

I prefer the X1800 'cos I feel ATi has better drivers, and nicer IQ. When I had the GTX(s) there was always something that wouldn't work quite as it should. Also the drivers from ATi are updated regulary so you know if there is a problem a fix shouldn't be far away, nvidia tend to be irregular and dont listen too any problems ... one game I had problems with has never been fixed since the release of the 7800gtx ... well it was ... by the devs as they got fed up waiting for nvidia to sort it .. it always ran flawless on ATi. So yes I much prefer the X1800 ![]() @ ShaidarHaran, 100% in agreement with your views on Nvidia scoring higher across the board... except even if the scores were close were they should be, I still think its not a particulary good indication of game performance ... Hell, a card from 2 generations ago wouldn't run that slowly in modern games ...

![]() I got around to doing a clean run this morning without too much going on in the background. Not shabby. http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm06=19006 Strangely enough, my reported core clock is the low power. *scraches head* oh well.

![]() Hey supra-freak, I got the same card clocked 415/1150. These are the scores: 3DMark Score 2763 3DMarks SM 2.0 Score 1163 Marks SM 3.0 Score 1063 Marks CPU Score 1063 Marks I was doing 2584 with 81.95 drivers. Try 81.98, they're "certified" by futuremark anyway.
