Default New phone purchase

I'm finally going to upgrade my iphone4 and am trying to decide between the Droid DNA and upcoming Samsung Galaxy S4. I like the S3, so the updates in the S4 sound good. I have a friend with the Droid DNA and that phone was incredible. The screen is awesome. Haven't heard anything about it yet that I don't like. So far, it seems the Galaxy S4 has a better camera (8MP vs 12MP) and supposedly a brighter screen.

What do you guys think?

I haven't seen S4 in action, but I've tried my aunt's S3. I find it pretty nice and screen is a bit bigger than my S2. If you're doubt in getting S4, just get a S3 instead of S4 only if you don't mind with that currently specs.

Definitely not going S3, the screen sucks. If I go Galaxy, it will be the S4 since. Makes nonsense to do an S3.

Choices are Droid and S4.

The screen sucks? What crack are you smoking?

The S4 is basically a slightly bigger, higher res version of the S3 screen.

Are you trolling bro?

Why don't you think about and post what features you're looking for.

That might make more sense than arbitrarily deciding between two phones...

I'm asking for a decent conversation on why I should get either the Droid or S4. Saying get one phone and that's it doesn't help at all. I need pros and cons, reasons and justification on making an educated decision on my purchase. This isn't rocket science.

Yes the S3 screen sucks. The PPI is too low for me. The S4 would be better.

And newer isn't a valid option for you?

PPI... have you even looked at the screen on an S3 or just going by what Apple is telling you?

Check this out comparison between S3 and S4 specs

http://www.droid-life.com/2013/03/14...galaxy-note-2/

It seems only difference is a higher MP camera, beefy battery, support higher memory capacity microSD slot, and quad core CPU. That's it. Everything else is almost similar spec as S3.

Jesus Christ, this isn't rocket science dude. I told you the choices were DNA and S4. You said S4. I said Why? You said Newer.

Now how the hell does that help me choose between S4 and DNA?

My friend has the S3. I've looked at it numerous times. The S3 is 300ppi and the DNA is like 440 or so, which is what the S4 will be. So yes, the S3 screen sucks compared to those. He'll, I noticed it was pixelated compared to even my IPhone 4. Anyway, thus discussion is about S4 and DNA. Lets move away from S3, because its irrelevant.

I already said the differences. S4 has better camera, MUCH better higher PPI screen, etc.

What seems to be rocket science for you is getting the concept that purchases are based on YOUR preferences. Are you a chick? Why do you expect us to read your mind and tell you what your preferences are?

Spec-wise, most Android phones of the same generation are negligibly different. So it's up to YOU to prioritize what you want.

Are you too lazy to look up the specs?

Newer is a distinguishing feature because int his game of Android updates, it means you're likely to be up-to-date for a longer period. You want other reasons? How about removable battery and expandable storage on the S4? That's about the only difference between it and the DNA.

And holy crap, get over this PPI garbage.

S3 screen doesn't suck

But I'm ready to sell my S3 to get an S4. New screen should be tits, processor is a solid upgrade. Touchwiz > Sense. Don't think the DNA has expandable storage, S4 does. If the DNA does it's not listed on the Verizon site. 16gb just isn't enough.

No, I won't get over it. I like a crystal clear screen.

Ill just put you on ignore. You're irritating.

Anyone used the DNA and found anything that I should be aware of?

Expandable storage is a major plus, the DNA is not expandable. I haven't decided yet if that's a big deal to me.

Good riddance.

I would go S4.

Its newer, which does make a difference in the long run.
Better camera is a make/break for me, since my phone is the only camera I own.

S4, no question.

I don't see the big deal in going S3->S4.

Slightly bigger and slightly more res on the screen would be nice but the processor doesn't do much for me. You were the one telling me the SoC runs everything pretty well even at ~1Ghz (I agree) and I can't think of a title where the S3 is GPU limited.

Seems like such a negligible bump for no real improvement in usability.

I've never discussed phones with you before, I don't even know what SoC is, let alone anything about processor specs. On top of that, what about Swingline? Huh?

I don't play cell phone games.

Screen res plus screen size is the big reason for me. Upping the screen size in a slightly smaller phone with an even larger battery is pretty damned awesome. The 13mpixel shooted I'd hope is great. The jump from dual to quad likely isn't a huge difference but the GPU bump would likely be noticeable in any gaming. The new Touchwiz features are really pretty insane, and we have no indication whether they make it to the GS3 or not. I'd actually run a stock rom because of the new Touchwiz features.

That was a response to Elysian and for the forum in general since you were supposed to have put me on ignore. Note the quote.

You confused me once for swingline giving you a hard time in fitness thread or something. You are way off your game today buddy.

I was going to if you kept on the same track. I don't even remember Swingline ever giving me a hard time for anything. Anyway, I'm not interested in any of that. Lets talk phones.

At this point, I'm not seeing a good reason why I should wait for the S4. Only the camera is what I'm interested in. The expandable storage is nice, but I'm not sure it's a deal killer.

If you store music on your phone and install apps 16gb SUCKS. Hard. I've got 16+32 in my GS3 and it's great. IMO there's no reason to buy the DNA, especially with the size of the GS4 just being superior with the same sized screen. I feel the GS3 is perfect sized for me, the GS4 being slightly smaller means it will feel very familiar.
