Default Final Fantasy 7

Hey look FF7 is coming back....to the PC....again....

And it doesnt look any different than it did years ago....

And the system requirements are way up compared to the first PC release lol (which didnt work properly on WinXP and beyond)

http://ca.ign.com/articles/2012/07/0...s-coming-to-pc

I remember playing this game on a Rage Pro "Turbo" with the slow movies problem (which got fixed with the DirectX 6 drivers...pretty much at the end of the card's life). Then i ran this again with I think a 1ghz processor and the part where you're driving Cloud down the streets and hacking other bikers to protect the car was like fast forwarded to hell cuz it wasnt optimized for a faster processor lol.

From what I remember, the emulated version had less issues than the actual port.

Wow, still have my old discs, but those got scratched to hell through years of use on an old 12x cd-drive.

There were a lot of modding and patching needed to be done to be playable on newer machines that I would go through each time I reinstall it, but this version looks like it won't require too many workarounds.

Definitely buying this for 12$.

I would laugh if all they did was take the poor PC port from years back and patched in the compatibilty with modern systems/OS and achievements lol.

I remember I bought a voodoo2 for this game. That highway chase was running at least 10x the normal speed.

This is one of the few modern FFs I've played (don't really like the games for the most part). Unfortunately, I got to the end and discovered that I hadn't spent enough time leveling up and had no chance to defeat Sephiroth.

Apparently if you go through the game too quickly you'll be able to get to the end, but then not beat it.

That's not true, you must have done something weird. Or did you reach the end at level 10 or something?

It was more than a decade ago, so I don't remember. It was very strange. I got to the end with no problems but then just kept getting destroyed over and over again. I finally ended up giving up, and never ended up beating it.

It was a long time ago, so I don't remember that much about it, but the fights must not have even been close to encourage me just give up. I remember not really have any difficulty at all up to that point and then just running into a brick wall. I do remember that I fought him numerous times, so it wasn't like I gave it one shot and then threw in the towel.

Maybe I only needed to gain a couple of levels, but I didn't want to have to go back to an earlier save and try again. I was already pretty sick of the game at that point, so I didn't feel motivated to continue on.

Like I said, it was many years ago and I can't remember that many details. It's even possible it was some sort of weird glitch I suppose?

I wish they'd at least redo the npc models. They wouldn't have to use big human models, they could just adapt the lego style like this:

Yeah, redoing the models and textures would make the game a lot better. It's pretty damn dated at this point.

Screw that I demand a complete remake of the graphics in an up to date engine but everything gameplay and story should remain the same, those of us who liked the game are fond of it not because of it's looks that's for sure.

Just imagine an up to date total graphical remake of FF7 possibly with voiced dialogue and all the bells and whistles, I've not been into any of the recent FF games but that would be a insta preorder for me.

They might be making a mistake though. It seems to me that redoing the graphics would cost much less than making a new full game. And FF7 redone with new graphics, and maybe voice acting might sell as well as a new game. It's a true classic and it's been many years since it was released.

If George Lucas can resell his movies and make millions, Square can update FF7. It is a goldmine.

I want a proper sequel to Tactics. None of the gameboy BS. I would purchase a PS3/4 exclusively for a game like that.

About the ff7 remake, looks like they will not do it until they start making good ff-titles again.

In a Q&A session of Square Enix's annual shareholder's briefing, CEO Yoichi Wada said that a remake of Final Fantasy VII will happen once the company makes a new Final Fantasy title that succeeds the seventh game in terms of quality and sales, something the company has to date failed to do.
If Square Enix were to release a remake right now, Wada said that the series would be done for. He also said that staff members assigned to the supposed project would have to be fully committed to it if it were in the pipeline.

If Square Enix were to release a remake right now, Wada said that the series would be done for. He also said that staff members assigned to the supposed project would have to be fully committed to it if it were in the pipeline.

Wouldn't a remake help boost the franchise again? I've been out of the loop of Final Fantasy gaming for a while now, but seeing as how FF7 came out in 1997, there are a lot of gamers who might not know the epicness that it was. Perhaps it would renew the older crowd's interest in franchise and bring newer gamers in as well?

To remake FF7 for the ADD nerdrage crowd, they'd need to significantly overhaul the graphics so it looks OMG REALISTIC!!! And they'd need to make it so that you dont pick and choose your weapons and materia, as that would take too much thinking which is nonexistant in this day and age.......

Plus they'd have to dumb down the storyline somewhat so thers no "huh wtf dead?" moments.
