The reviews are good, but a few of them bring up a good point. It's a good game, but it doesn't feel like Assassin's Creed. I've always wondered that's about Origins. I haven't played it yet, but I often wonder what it has retained from the rest of the series.

I've been working my way through all of the games since last year, every single one of them. I'm now finally 30% through Syndicate. Origins and Odyssey are next.

I've been noticing that the interaction with Abstergo, Assassin's, Templars, and the ancient beings (Precursor) has been getting less and less. There is virtually none of it so far in Syndicate, and there was pretty much nothing in Unity. This was a lot of the appeal of the games...the story that was unraveling.

Where does that part of the Assassin's Creed story sit with Origin and Odyssey? It seems like just hack and slash gameplay, much like Unity and Syndicate, without the story background of the previous 6 or 7 games.

Gold kind of feels like a waste since I'm not sure that I'll be still playing the game when the DLC hits.

I'm sort of okay with the game evolving past its origins (pun not intended). It probably needs a new name and IP to align behind. Something that just shows off historical eras, with RPG elements, and a narrative, is a pretty cool game to build around. I don't need it to always tie back into the Assassins brotherhood stuff. So yeah, I agree with you that they need to just go off in a separate direction at this point.

Yeah, it's shedding a lot of what made Assssin's Creed what it was. I don't like that part of it. That story was great, and it was literally just dropped.

Does Origins actually have anything to do with an "Assassin's Creed"? I thought it was an origin story, going just by the name. It seems all these two new games are, is just a game with the name attached and built upon some of the basic gameplay mechanics and location/event stuff.

I would hope so at only 1440. You have a 4k display, how does 4k run?
Probably like ass. It's hard to gauge from Origins, because Origins in the main campaign actually ran very well at 4k with highest settings and TAA the majority of the time on my 1080Ti. However, in Curse of the Pharoahs, performance took a major tumble...especially in that afterlife open world area.
