Couple of things:
1) Valve hasn't been to E3 for years. They aren't listed this year https://www.e3expo.com/participating-companies So bullshit meter is at about 8/10
2) Valve news network is not affiliated with valve, it's just some kid running a channel for hits. So bullshit meter hits 9/10
3) He had nothing to lose by posting a rumor. If it's false people will just forget, but he'll get lots of hits in the meantime. BS meter = 10/10

It's fake, HL3 is not coming this year and probably not coming for at least a decade, if at all.

I don't know what this is, but I don't think a significant portion of the remnant Half-Life community is currently under an NDA, forbidden to talk about a Half-Life 3. So I'm going to go with "bullshit" on this one.

If HL3 were to come out I would have a hard time justify buying before it hit the bargain bin. Valve showed a lot of disrespect to the gaming community with how they acted on the HL series (set up a cliff hanger ending and then basically left us hanging), and much as I'd like to see the series concluded I don't want to reward their behavior.

I never really saw the appeal of Half-Life. Were they good games? Yes, buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut I don't find myself caring if they release are part 3 or not...ever.

Besides, they are just going to stuff dlcs, loot boxes, early access, and pay walls into it like all other games have these days anyway (if they ever make it). Gone are the days of a fully complete, structured game on release.

Not gone, just not as prevalent as they used to be. Prey is a great example.

Meh Valve is more likely to release a VR or e-sports title. Its all about money now. As if they didnt have enough already with Steam. Rumor is tho MS wanted to buy Steam... Id rather they sell their game IP and let some decent studio make new HL or LFD games.

You know, there has not been anything really pushing vr yet. Like, there have been some decent titles, but most things are pretty average. Vr would make sense as a new medium to push hl3 through on, wouldnt have any competitors.

HL3 is the new Duke Nukem Forever.

By the time it comes out (if it does at all) the gaming landscape will have changed and the game itself will become some mediocre half assed feeling project stuck between what it was supposed to be like (plays like a HL sequal), what it wants to be like (GOAT FPS) and what it needed to be like (whatever the gaming landscape is like at the time of release).

Duke Nukem Forever was actually in development.

Half Life 3 is not.

Valve can go from design to retail for Half Life 3 in less than 3 years if they wanted to, they have no problems churning out a game. They've just found it easier to just collect money rather than build new games.

The incentive just isn't there anymore for them. Whatever money they make from Half Life 3 would be dwarfed by whatever they're making now just from Steam.

Valve can go from design to retail for Half Life 3 in less than 3 years if they wanted to, they have no problems churning out a game. They've just found it easier to just collect money rather than build new games. The incentive just isn't there anymore for them.
