Thank you my friend. Thanks to everyone.

Even though this death is very personal, I’ve seen a lot of it so I knew how to prepare. More importantly he found Jesus before this last hospital stay so I know where he ended up. Im happy for him. Not that he’s gone but that he’s not suffering anymore and is having a party w/Jesus right now

The toughest part of this is watching my family members breaking down in tears, unable to walk, etc.

I had to answer so many variations of the “did we do the right thing” question last night. Made me sad that they were so sad.

Going for a quick surf then to check on family then to the gym to let all his buddies there know (we work out at the same gym, know practically everyone who works out there regularly).

Don't take the the wrong way buddy. I'm sad for your families loss, but very happy your Dad is partying where he is right now.

You're a good man. Your family is lucky to have you help them through this time.

Anything at all I can do for you just let me know.

dang man, so sorry to hear this. I can't even imagine what you and your family are going through, but so thankful to hear that he met Jesus and the peace that knowledge brings.

Hang in there Cyko, and we're all here for you!

I’m a little pissed off now at the family.

So we’re cremating him and going to charter a boat and spread his 2 miles offshore. So when do they charter the boat for? The one week in August I’m gone for work. I can’t cancel either.

Called my mom and received a “sorry, can’t re-book”. They just booked the motherfker today. I checked the site for the boat and there’s no cancellation fee. I have half a mind to call and see if they have openings the following week.

Effing bs.

I think it's inconsiderate that they didn't at least ask if you'll be available for the booking. As the son that seems common sense. I'd try to resist the urge to go off on the family, but I'd have already done it so I wouldn't blame you if you did.

See if you can reschedule with work. Maybe they'll understand?

edit: on second thought, **** that. Call them in the morning and see if you can reschedule it. If so, with no fees, then do it. If it does cost a fee and it's not insane, pay it. **** that bullshit, he's your father and clearly meant a lot to you. Don't put up with that bullshit.

I hate family sometimes. Blood doesn't mean ****.

This, and I say that because they're going through grief of their own and their understanding and reasonableness are at their limits as well. Whoever scheduled it should have talked to everyone first but they didn't. (Attribute that inconsideration to what you will....) Buta year, five years from now what difference will it have made?

I am not sure how taboo this is, but, since he was cremated, couldn't they give you a portion of the ashes in a smaller urn, so you could make peace with your father when the time is right with you?

Called everyone up, got dates for when they’re available - found a date (08/14). Called the company and that date was still open. Booked it, called my mom, had her cancel her reservation.

Problem solved.

Thanks for all the thoughts all. Been a sh*t couple of weeks for my family (July 4th lost an uncle, july 14th lost my dad and another uncle, lost an aunt yesterday).

Glad you were able to work it out. I'm sorry about your losses this year. I can't imagine what you're going through. I share your joy that your Dad is in Jesus's arms right now. Knowing that makes grief a little easier to bear.
