Yeah, with 1M, you could invest it and go live at a medium level country with it on pure passive income, while still having the $1M in assets.

Just think of the mass flooding of used graphics cards coming. We will be able to get a GTX 1080ti for $35

There won’t be any massive flooding. There are tons of people who are still willing to buy.

Took profits today and left only $500 in the account since the price is dilly-dallying around $6-8k.

I put in $2200 since May last year, pulled out $6k. It could have been double the profit if I was smart but got greedy and paid the price.

Disappointed in the performance during the market drops.

Still going to make my monthly purchases as usual.

How reliable are they? One of the biggest reason I haven't dipped in bitcoin is securing them. These cryto-wallets don't have a long enough track record for me to trust them.

I'm in the same position. I do I know these aren't hacked and siphoning Bitcoin back to the home base.

I may just do a paper wallet. But then I run the risk of losing it.

That's the problem there no product that has proven reliablity. Nand should be fine as long it powered every so often. You can store the coin in your phone right?

Are bitcoins the only cryto you're mining? How many months do you have to mine to cover the cost of the hardware?

I mine on nicehash. It converts all the crap into BTC and send me BTC per day. I think I should be able to cover costs of H/W in about 8-9 months. However, there is a caveat to all of this. Assumes that BTC will stay where it is at. The whole point is that there is upside potential in this thing. At its lowest (around 6500) I could cover cost of H/W in 12 months (not assuming resale of H/W).

You're also omitting the rise in mining difficulty. Surely you're not the only one who's had the bright idea to start [email protected]

Not sure how the difficulty tends to adjust for alt coins (and what the trends/predictions are), but back when I was mining BTC with my GPU in 2013, I hopped in at the height of the craze (just like you did now) and soon the difficulty was over the roof and I had *somewhat* decent profits only for a couple of months until it just eventually all went to crap and then the Chinese with ASICs took over anyway.

That is correct. Right now I am doing about 0.0031 BTC per day quite consistently though.

I like how break even point on hardware went from 3-5 months less than a month ago to 8-9 months now.

When I thought about purchasing the equipment it was at 11,500. At that time ROI was 7.5 months for a 10K rig. Now it is about 8-9 months depending on what you believe in and how much you are able to get in BTC / day.
