Default Mold testing in house

anyone do any mold studies on their house? care to share what you found and what you did about it...

We just did a study through a company called ImmunoLytics (https://immunolytics.com/Default.aspx) with the following results:

Room1 total count =6
Room2 total count =9
Bathroom total count =9
kitchen total count = TNTC
Living room total count = 11

scale:

So it seems like our mold is pretty bad, not sure what to do about it at this point... thoughts?

Were people in your household getting sick?

What led you to do the test in the first place?

Before I bought my house I lived in an apartment that got really bad mold. I lived on the bottom floor, which was slab concrete. Somehow the vapor barrier failed if there even was one, and the carpet and cold was a perfect way to increase humidity with dirty water. My dehumidifer was sucking out 5 gallons a day. Basically, find the source of the key elements for mold growth (Humidity, Darkness, low temperature) and fix one of them. Darkness is a pointless endeavor, and low temps can be fixed by wasting energy with heat, but that's just going to raise the dew point, a temporary fix.

Humidity is the most important to fix, which is a water leak, air circulation, or dew point problem. Dehumidifiers are a band-aid, unless it's for anticipated temporary conditions like wet cars in a garage. Stop sources of moisture, or introduce less humid air, by venting or conditioned air. Ceiling fans are a great way to circulate warm, dry air to the floor, equalizing humidity levels. Check the weather for humidity levels and open some windows when it's really dry outside. Open your blinds on sunny days and turn on bathroom/laundry vents to suck out moisture rich air from being heated by the sunlight.

Plugin rechargable moisture absorbers and dehumdifiers work but seriously only use them while you fix the source of the problem. Otherwise you will have an endless battle.

Every house has mold.

From what I've experienced and seen our moisture department deal with, is "labs" that test generally exaggerate the issue, trying to sell some remedial process through a sister/brother company.

Get rid of the moisture in the home.

Dehue system, run your A/C more (have the vents cleaned, change the filter, clean/sanitize the unit), get more airflow in/under/above the house (attics and basements or crawlspaces).

Did your test show results from outside the home? Theres mold out there too!

Hi VW_Factor, What is your "moisture department" and what do you do for a living?

Do you have carpet in the living room? Could be a source of mold, might need replacing. Could also try steam cleaning it. Bathroom have any bathmats? Any vents? Are you on a slab or a sub floor? Do you have fans in the bathroom? You need to probably increase air circulation and make sure the environment is not humid and stagnant. A de-humidifier could help temporarily.
