Dog pear in Texas, same family. Going out along the Rio Grand around lake Amistad at night fishing or hunting...you were going to get hurt.

i was up at horseshoe lake az and saw some guy come off a dirt bike and rap his arms and legs around a 30+ foot Saguaro cactus
he was hanging about 4 foot off the ground

the paramedics were cutting the needles off the cactus with heavy wire cutters

I've heard stories like that but never knew if they were really true or not. I do know for a fact that even prickly pears can hurt like hell if you land on them just right...
