Not true, I have removed steam several times and my games remained. All I had to do was re-verify each game to activate them (much less time than re-installing them).

Did you move the games folder first? Cause that is the only way I know of that prevents Steam and Epic from uninstalling the game. For Steam the support page states this

Quote:
Important:
This process will remove Steam and any installed game content from your machine. If reinstalling Steam and Steam games in the near future, please move the Steamapps folder (C:\Program Files\Steam\Steamapps) outside of the Steam directory to prevent your games from being deleted. Additionally, backups of all game content can be created for reinstallation.

Yes I did, but that same trick does not work with EPIC. I found that out the hard way.

Oh, with Epic

1- Move the game directory some where else

2- uninstall Client

3- Reinstall Client

4- find game in library and click install

5- As soon as it says installing, pause the install (just click on the game)

6- then Cancel the install

7- Move your game folder back so that it replaces what Epic client created in step 5

8- click Resume

It will verify the game installation using the files you just moved back.

Last I checked with steam all you had to do is point your client to the steam library folder with the games.

All hail steam!

:D

Also it's 2019 having your games on the same drive as the os is cause for a death penalty sentence >:E

Just jam the client on the os drive and use an ssd for the games and an nvme drive for what your currently playing.

Yep. Have all my games on "G" drive and whenever I've had to reinstall my OS, and the Steam app, all I do was point it at the Steam folder on G-drive. Since the games were never removed, no need to re-download. EZ-PZ

And yeah, I've got all my games on a 2TB SSD drive.
