Default 6006 with 8500 fix available for winXP

ok, I got some space on tripod. lets see how long this lasts.

get your 6006 drivers for the 8500 here

http://beagz0.tripod.com/radeon6006.rar.zip

after you download them you must delete the .zip and open with winrar.

I set the anisodegree to 16, feel free to change it to whatever you want values of 0, 2, 4, 8, 16, 64 all seem ok, but I may be in error on the higher ones (16 is amazing with little perf. hit)

don't forget you MUST copy the link and paste in your address bar to download

alternate .inf installer without forced anisodegree.

http://beagz0.tripod.com/atiixpag.inf.zip (remove the .zip extension, it is not compressed.)

Well I get to wait until after work now because my XP didn't boot far enough for VNC to start up I guess. Oh well maybe one day the XP issues will be resolved.....

I donwnloaded them -- link still works (cut and paste people).

I assume I load these drivers the old fashioned way.

When first tried teh 6006 drivers I took a hit in 2D -- is the same still true?

Worth a shot anyway. I am at work right now -- I downloaded them and emailed them to myself at home. I will update you all tonight.

How cool is my secratary? Instead of some lame normal office gift she bought me Serious Sam -- LOL? Awesome.

Thumbs up XP NP

Link worked great. The current XP drivers were cool except with Ultima Online 3D. I bet these drivers fix it because not 30 seconds ago I just uninstalled it, and it's probably a 30 minute install from CD & then 50 or so many MB worth of internet patching.

win2k drivers are 5.13.x.6006 and these are 6.13.x.6006 so only xp is supported. there are minor differences that cause big problems. I would not install them on win2k.

Wow!! This driver makes a world of difference in OpenGL performance for Pro/Engineer.

Specviewperf:

New drivers:
MedMCAD-01 Weighted Geometric Mean = 33.51

Old drivers:
MedMCAD-01 Weighted Geometric Mean = 24.50

Nice Job!!!

Mindflux,

you sure you used this one? because someone else has posted another that doesn't fully work without editing the registry. This is not meant as anything critical please don't take it that way. The version I have posted requires a manual install in which you must tell winXP which drivers to install and it works properly with the 8500 without editing the registry or any other issues. the installer I provide also gives 1280x960 support. on the other hand, I believe the other version uses a setup.exe to install, so if you have a setup file, you have that one.

I installed without any problems. BTW, where are these drivers from?? Can you make 8800 drivers work with this card as well? (dreaming again)

Oh yeah, Thanks!!!

well, there was a link that lasted about 1 day and I nabbed them. unfortunately they only worked with the mobility and I had to edit the .inf file to give full support for the 8500 since the drivers themselves are code compatible just differing registry entries during the install. I don't have an 8800 so I wouldn't even try to make a working inf file for something I cannot test on my own machine. So glad that you guys are enjoying them. I just wanted to get something out there that was easy to install with all the latest improvements until ATI releases something official.

Nah, it was the other post because this link is dead, if anyone wants to mail them to me or put up another link.. that'd be spectacular.

you have to cut and paste. please read the directions carefully. because you also have to rename the file when downloading (sorry for this but I hate winzip)

yup, just checked it and it still works.

I Right Clicked over the link and used the "save as" command to snag them.

Also, I was hoping you could modify 8800 drivers to run on the 8500.

if it says you have newer files you must overwrite them. the best way to install is on top of the 3286 drivers and when it asks to overwrite newer files click "yes"

i tried several things:

First i removed all old drivers and ATi programs before installing the 6006 drivers. Same error occured.
Then, i installed the 3286 drivers again, and i did overwrite every new file. But again, the same error occured. Nothing seems to work here..
Oh, and safe-modus isn't working either..

I'm desperate
