I've seen his before pics but he definitely has favorable genetics. Not to take away from anything he's done .. it's all hard work but to get to his size and amount of weight he's lifting, he has good genes.

Again, that doesn't take away from any of his hard work but his genetic .. potential ..? I guess that's the right word? seems high.

I will admit my muscle shape and insertions and such are good genetically, and I'm blessed to not have any real weak lifts, but that's about it. I watch a lot of people on YouTube that have terrible bench, and I always thought mine sucked too but it just takes more work. I honestly don't know how I keep doing this without even tracking my food anymore and not gaining more weight, my lifts have flown up since I got dedicated again and I haven't gained a pound. Part of my wants to hop on something to see what I could really look like and how strong I'd be.

I have the worst metabolism and appetite for this lifestyle without a real medical condition, that's for sure. 30 years old and still maintain on 5000 calories a day and despise food.

As for the pants, I found they stop the bar from destroying my shins as they're very slippery with the bar. I refuse to wear stupid leggings like the rest of the fitness people do so they'll have to work for now

Yeah. I wasn't trying to take away from all your hard work and dedication (and I know how hard it is to do the high calories per day thing) at all, but your shape and growth just screams good genetics. I could only imagine what you would look like if you took this as a full-time job and got on gear ..

The next step for me is to start tracking my macros. I know on rest days I'm not intaking enough protein, and possibly not intaking enough on workout days either. I act like the 48g of protein from my shake is a good amount but in reality I should probably be intaking more than twice that daily. I feel flat after rest days and I think it's the lack of protein as well as lack of carbs. I just hate eating I need to buy crunchy peanut butter and get back on the calorie grind.

Talked to my recruiter yesterday and he had to weigh/measure me again - this is with no shoes and empty pockets, jeans and a t-shirt on. He measured me at 6'0-6'1 with no shoes and weighed me at 188lb - I weighed at 186 early December with shoes, sweatpants and a hoody on at the gym, and 178 beginning of November with no shoes, empty pockets jeans + t-shirt. That's roughly 10 pounds heavier in two months. This is nearly all muscle and water weight from the creatine.

I just need to figure out a way to get myself in that routine of having protein daily.

I need to order more, actually. Are you still loving that protein you mentioned earlier, ice? I need to order some today as I only have 1 more day left in my jug. Also, do you recommend any specific Creatine? Currently I take this:

Any opinion on that? I just wanted pure creatine with no additives and that seemed to fit the bill. I take 4-5g (one scoop) with a mouthful of orange juice in the morning before workouts. On off days I don't take it.

Flark, totally missed this whole post. Sounds like you've got things squared away, but yes, I still love my PEScience protein. C&C was the one I started with and my second favorite flavor of the ones I've tried.

As far as creatine, the PEScience Ergonine that I take every day has what they claim to be a better version of the creatine monohydrate in it so I haven't taken a standalone creatine product in months, but I always stuck with the monohydrate when I did. In reality I doubt there is a difference on our level.

I will say though, take 5g a day, every day. Don't skip it on non workout days, I've never read anything that says you should do that or even "cycle off" creatine.

Interesting. I've been going with the Muscletech Platinum Creatine which is apparently a very pure creatine monohydrate, which is all I want, just straight creatine, no additives or other BS.

You're probably right and I should take my 5g every day. I'll start doing that tomorrow, then. I figured once you've been taking it for a month and have it flowing in the blood, missing 2 days a week won't matter much as it's in your system and a naturally produced nutrient.

I haven't noticed weight fluctuations or energy drops so I figured it was fine. I was also reading something about people stating that caffeine can/does cancel out the effects of creatine but nothing definitive -- seems very up in the air. Do you have any stance on that? From what I understand, the study that says caffeine cancels/lowers the effectiveness of creatine was done a long time ago, and a more modern study was somewhat inconclusive.

Yeah I have a crazy arch but my ass is 100% on the bench, I make sure of that otherwise it doesn't count for powerlifting. Having a big ass helps there too.

I wouldn't be able to wait to try the protein, every time I get a new flavor I make a shake haha.

Yeah I can't get that much of an arch. I've been really working on my thoracic extension with some stretching every day, but flexibility is slow progress as always. Eventually I would like to have more arch in my bench form, there's definitely some strength being lost due to my lack of flexibility.

Think i need to video my bench.

i had a long chest day yesterday - started with dumbbell flat bench, then barbell flat bench, dumbbell incline, barbell incline, etc.

im still struggling to gain on my bench and this seems to be a weak lift for me. i know i was a little tired since i did 5-6 sets of dumbbell flat bench, but i should be able to push out more than 3-4 sets of 5 @ 135 (1 plate) and then 3-4 reps on 4-5th set.

i did put up 155 for 1 rep on my 2nd to last set (after a lot of volume from the dumbbells and 135 5rep sets) so that was cool but i just dont feel like my bench improves at the same rate that my other lifts do. my shoulder press for example has gone up tremendously, a lot of my exercises for back have also gone up a lot .. whether it be more weight or more reps, im gaining at the pace i think i should be in those areas considering how much work i put in at the gym and the protein+creatine. my chest day is pretty well developed so i dont get it.

need to video tape my form and stuff for you guys to critique. ill post it most likely next week since i did chest already.

oddly enough i can push 60lb dumbbells flat bench fine, but barbell 45 on each side is somehow a massive struggle. i could probably do 5x5 with 65lb dumbbells (which ill probably try next week) but for some reason i feel SO MUCH WEAKER with the barbell. I actually prefer the dumbbells the past month because I just "feel" stronger doing them .. which is why i started doing both dumbbell and barbell.

Squatted 310x15 ATG last night, slowly getting back up there. My knees were giving me issues though, right behind my kneecaps. It usually feels better when I foam roll my IT bands, might have to start that again.

went to do chest today and felt so weak. dropped weights to get through most of it and didn't even bother doing triceps. might need to take the week off and regather my thoughts .. been feeling depressed last few days and i'm so deep in my own head that it's affecting me physically.
