Default A Challenge for How

Alright, here is the deal. If How himself comes outta the shadows and posts here telling us that his production will go back up, I'll personally give How for free the following systems to the folding cause:

1) 8088 7.33mhz
2) 486SX 25mhz
3) 486DX 33mhz (with built in math coprocessor!!!!)
4) Apple IIe (comes complete with external HD!)

All this for free!! Imagine the folding power right there!!

Adaptec 2490uw SCSI /w 2x Plextor CD/CD-R

Folding @ Home: the only useful way to use that extra CPU... and possible GPU... time!!

8) However, let this one fact not be escaping YOUR notice, beloved ones, that one day is with Jehovah as a thousand years and a thousand years as one day. 9) Jehovah is not slow respecting his promise, as some people consider slowness, but he is patient with YOU because he does not desire any to be destroyed but desires all to attain to repentance.
Like 12Bass says, critical thinking and the scientific method are probably the best tools we have to avoid it. (bias)

However, this method relies on repeatable, falsifiable hypotheses and theories. Only an extremely small spectrum of time and space can be rendered into these, or at least a good approximation of such.

Are these systems in operating conditions? I still have processors as far back as the 286 (I think) but I've only got the CPUs but not complete systems.

I'd still have my P200 (with MMX technology!) left to fold on

Yup, they all work. The 486DX is actually everything but the case (It belonged to my G/F's parents and I had to strip it out to fit it all in my suitcase). It still works though if you put the mobo on a phonebook and boot it up. The floppy controller on the IIe fried after I layed it on carpet. Other than that, they all boot just fine. Perfectly useable

Gotta get that 8088 up and running. 640K ram + 20 meg HD should be enough for folding right?

Bill Gates said that 640K is all the ram I'll ever need

Throw in a C64 or Vic20 and he won't be able to resist. Better yet, how about an Altair?

We've got a TRS 80, Apple II, and a Mac Classic at the shop, taking up space on our "junk shelf". All are fully-funcitonal though

You calling those systems junk? Those Mac classics are speed demons! They can even keep up with the text entered into a word processor some of the time

Better save that abacus ... it'd be a shame to give away 1/2 your production.
