Default price of a replacement alternator, belt and battery for a 2000 Honda Odyssey.

Anyone want to venture a guess? I just lost mine driving the kids to see the smurfs. First console went dead then the a/c then everything else. Only starts while boosted. After a min or or so it dies again.

Could get a used alternator with a good warranty for less than $100. >_>

yeah, I had my alt go out over a mountain pass, was about 1 am, car started back firing and I thought I was being shot at, It was snowing and I didn't really have warm clothes, had to be work about 80 miles away at 8 am... with no cell service was stuck on the side of the road, blind corner, with no lights and flares already burnt up before I got out of there.

I didn't make it to work the next day and drove home ~45 minutes on a battery alone, (pouring down rain, rarely using wipers/ no lights etc no defrost either since it was electric didn't want to strain the battery anymore...

It was quite a fun trip

Unless the battery is really old it may not need replacing. Get it tested.

Looking on Autopartswarehouse.com an alternator is going to be $150-$200 (new or remanufactured). Serpentine belt is like $20-$30.

I boosted a Civic with my Swift, it was idling, and it didn't even notice the Civic trying to spin over.

The battery cable contacts were really horribly corroded... I carry a little set of tools for cleaning battery contacts now...

right. plus 2 hr labour. That's with new alt and serpentine belt.

Honestly, I'd go with a lifetime warranty reman. the differences between a never been used alt, and one given a second life are small. Basically just one is all new and shiny and one is 'newish' and shiny...

Save a few bucks here.

He wasn't questioning the reman, he's saying add on 2 hours labor and the price is the same. Like mine posted from Mitchel1 is with labor. Which was rated at 2.4hrs

I know, I was just suggesting he ask for the 'downgrade' at the shop to see if there are any savings to be had.

Few extra bucks saved, an environmentally friendly choice at the same time, and no real loss on his end except for perception of the part(possibly, some people refuse to use remanufactured parts).

You will change your mind about lifetime warranty rebuilts when you are changing it every 6 months.

I got one bad out of 5 so far. One that was rebuilt in Winnipeg, and for some reason it cranks out way more power than it should, voltage is good, it's just an 80 amp unit, when what went in before was only 55 amps.

Who's your supplier of the lame?
