![]() Only other option is RGB modding. This is the website you want to read on that: https://www.retrorgb.com/snes.html |

![]() Thanks! I'll take a look. If I decide to go that route, I'll likely source another SNES to do it. No way I'll mod my original from when I was a kid. ![]()

![]() To be clear, as the RetroRGB link states, the original model SNES consoles support RGB output as long as you have the right cable. You don't need to "mod" anything with the original SNES. This is the cable you would use: https://retro-access.com/collections...ed-cable?aff=3 But you're heading down a bit of a rabbit hole with RGB, as RGB output will get you near equal quality to the Analogue FPGA SNES console but only if you also get an upscaler like the Framemiester to connect to modern HDTV's. If you have access to a Sony PVM however you can direct connect. But they are super hard to find and not HD obviously. But they look awesome. Anyways I'll just let you research on your own and decide if its something you want to get into. I've avoided RGB simply because the good upscalers are expensive, and I'm holding out for the Analogue consoles to come back in stock. |

![]() Ahhhh, gotcha. Yeah, clearly haven't looked into it much yet. I still have the page up and haven't even had a chance to glance at it. Different than what I was thinking it would be then. Not sure I'll go that route. Will research it a bit when I can.

![]() Personally I would just hold out for Analogue to get the Super NT back in stock. Its a shame this past year has been so crap for trying to buy anything and everything tech. ![]() |

![]() Yeah, looked at a few of the options and none of them really get me excited. I'll just keep waiting for the Super NT. ![]() I put off the Final Fantasy marathon because once I play through FF3, the next 3 are SNES. Maybe I'll get them for PC for now and collect the game carts later and continue on. Don't know yet.

![]() I'm so glad I got my NES top loader modded with the Hi-Def kit years ago before it got so in demand and expensive. But on the other hand I remember seeing the Super NT black and clear versions in stock many times but passed on them because I wanted the classic color version. Looking back I wish I just grabbed the black one. Ah well. |

![]() Yeah unlike the SNES, you'd have to mod the NES for RGB unfortunately. Luckily if you have a good CRT like a Trinitron, even composite looks pretty good. I still have my front loader NES on my Trinitron by composite and it looks fine to me. I like to play on it sometimes rather than my HDMI NES top loader because it reminds me of what the games looked like when I was a kid. |

![]() I'm in the opposite mode of collecting...I've realized that I have way too much hardware and games that I rarely or never play any more and am considering getting rid of a whole pile of stuff. I have regretted selling off old systems and games in the past but truthfully they just never get used because I don't have the time |

![]() Browsing EBay tonight and man...the amount of Reproduction SNES games is getting nuts. It's actually taking work now to sort out authentic vs repro carts. It use to be only on the more expensive games, but now it's on everything as cheap as $15-$20.

The good thing though is, as a buyer on eBay you are well protected. If they don't show anywhere in the description or pictures that its a repro you can easily put in a claim for item not as described and get your money back. Other than that we have been collecting long enough to be able to tell the difference. If anything its just more time consuming having to weed through all the fakes. |

![]() Ok, I finally pulled the trigger on a TurboGrafx 16. Wife rolled her eyes a bit, but let me do it. This one cost $160 and came with a hyperkin AV adapter. Sweet deal, if I do say so myself. No games yet, but I ordered an everdive from Aliexpress, so I'll be playing it in 8-10 weeks, right? ![]() |

A few things I've learned to look for (probably basic knowledge, but I've never looked it up) are: 1. Check the corners of the labels. Repros are typically lazy and the label corners are cut at a sharp angle rather than a nice rounded corner. 2. Two digit stamp in the top left of the rear label on the cart 3. Make sure the top label art/font actually matches the authentic game. I've been noticing repros may just do basic white font instead of the colored art/font that authentic games used Probably easy to tell when they show the board inside the cart, but hunting for only those sales makes it even more difficult. Awesome! I never looked into that system much, so I'm not really sure what games are available. Did it have a good amount of exclusive games?

![]() TG16 is an awesome console but super expensive to collect games for, and i have never seen any in all my years of game hunting. An Everdrive is the way to go if you want to play on the original hardware. It's an excellent console if you like shooters. I got the TG16 mini and still slowly exploring the games on it. Some really amazing games on that system considering it was relevant at the same as the NES. It was technically ahead of its time. |

Someday I'd love to get a Super SD System 3, but those are almost $300, and that's pretty stiff for me. Maybe someday the price will come down? |

Lemmings and Star Fox give me the most memories. I rented Star Fox a ton of times. Pilotwings is very nostalgic too, but only the N64 version. I've always wanted to try it on the SNES.

![]() I remember buying Star Fox when it was first released, it blew me away. Never saw anything like it on consoles before that and played the **** out of it. Still own my original copy too. If you watch the Netflix documentary series High Score I think there was an episode that talked about the making of that game. Was actually designed by a small western game studio in collaboration with Nintendo and Miyamoto put his spin on it adding the cute characters which I didn't know. |

![]() Good question, not really sure. I do have Mario Paint...but not a clue where the mouse is. It's either in my attic storage or in my old closet in my parents house. I just fired up all those games tonight to test them and yeah...Lemmings would be way better if that mouse worked!

![]() So now that I've got my Turbografx, I'm just looking through my console collection, and realizing that I'm pretty close to having everything I really want, at least console-wise. Here's my spreadsheet: Here's the summary of what I've got:
Portables:
So there's definitely stuff I could look at getting, but nothing super interesting. I suppose I might someday get, although they're super low on my priority list:
But other stuff I'm really just not that interested in at all:
Then there's the really obscure stuff that's really only for museums, which I don't plan to collect:
This might be the end of my retro-console collecting career. Now all I have left are the new consoles.
