Personally, I'm totally fine with 8 cores if it's the fastest for gaming. I've been down this road before in the quad core era ![]() Quote:

The truth is i am having an adiction deciding my cpu upgrade....I got myself in a mental loop a bit. On one hand i want some intel performance, on the other hand i have a b350 and a 3700x sufficient...In the last weeks i haven't played any games or i said i will play old games until the market recovers. Also the no need for upgrade is on table too.ALso RKL is around the corner and i may wait..All in all i still look at freaking benchmarks ... Well i looked at them in a loop and i post them here too..

![]() If you have a 3700x there is no need to upgrade and just stick out till Zen 4 or Core 12. The videos are fine, I don't get the big deal.

![]() I was interested in Intel's next gen and even current Ryzen CPU's, but I couldn't justify the wait or the scalping cost as I needed to upgrade my office/app development PC quickly. So I settled for a 10700F paired with an Asrock Extreme 4 490 motherboard, 16GB 3200Mhz memory, and a low profile Noctua cooler. Not the best by any means, but this is a considerable upgrade from a 3770k, and price was worth it. Case, power supply, drives, etc.. remained but also did an SSD upgrade while at it. Also tossed the DVD writer since the last time I used it was to transfer porn onto DVD's a decade ago. ![]() Now, my main living room gaming PC isn't really due for an upgrade (powered by an i7 8700 and RTX 3080), but it's going on about 3 years now. Will see who offers the best gaming performance value in Summer of 2021. Main thing though won't really be the processor but whatever memory (and GPU of course) it's paired with. |

![]() Why not just swap the office pc with the 8700? That way you would upgrade both systems in one go. |

![]() I keep my office PC and gaming PC's separate, no swapping, I need both to be properly upgraded for my needs when the time comes. So for my office/work/VR/app development PC, a 10700 > 8700. Once the 8700 is upgraded to whatever (which I wouldn't do now anyways because next gen Intel isn't out yet, and Ryzen scalping still in force), that 8700 goes further down the hand me down ladder, probably a dedicated streaming box or I'll give away. Basically my gaming PC and office/work PC leapfrog each other every few years at least for the CPU. Last edited by Exposed : Jan 22, 2021 at 04:10 PM. |

![]() It was an AVX workload. Go turn on Prime95 and see what kind of temps your 5900X gets.. Zero information on the cooler, fan speed, etc. Pretty garbage leak to pull any useful data or information from. |

![]() Mine hits 91 C with AVX workload. That is in OCCT AVX2 all core max load test. Seems Intel is going to charge 600 boners for the 11900K. Damn. Last edited by KAC : Jan 30, 2021 at 09:57 PM. |
