I thought the opening double episodes were rather bland until the not so surprising twist at the end, the martian military squad story just felt so disconnected from what we've seen since the 1st season, a complete new side story that I couldn't relate to yet, I haven't watched the 3rd episode though.

Is it true this series digs on Mormons a lot? Is this show done by Trey Parker?

Dig? No but it's interesting that the Mormons have a huge spaceship ready to colonize the stars.

No. You're forgetting the sample hidden in the meteor. Not to mention, we don't actually see what happens to Eros under the clouds of Venus. So, there's plenty left that could happen.

Well, considering that book 6 just came out and there's supposedly plans for it to be a 9 book series.... There's LOTS more to happen.

Agreed.

Would suck if they killed off one of my favorite characters though.

Meh...

That felt a little to contrived in the ending. The Miller/Julie obsession wasn't realistic and overdone.

I didn't feel that way at all. Miller had pretty much bailed on life but found a purpose and connection with someone he'd never met until he found her dead. For them to be united like that I thought was really awesome, plus the visuals were incredible especially for a TV show.

Hey and let's not forget the Navoo and about 100 of Earth's newkyewlar missiles are still out there pin-balling around the solar system.

Thomas Jane has top-billing on this show; he's probably not killed off.

And when did Holden become captain of the Rossi? I thought they all sort of agreed it was Naomi.

This show is the t1ts.

Great episode, could have been the end if we didn't know more episodes were coming.

Holden is the captain, but it's by agreement of all (because someone needs to be in charge). I can't say more regarding what you said without spoilers so....

At any rate, for those keeping score at home, we're moving into Book 2.

I was left wondering why that Eppstein guy didn't build a failsafe to stop his new drive if it ran off on him.

Yeah - he was aiming for a couple % boost, not creating a new drive technology.

Yes. I LOVE how they take the time to portray space properly, same for landing on planets, moons, asteroids and the like. That can't be easy from a production standpoint.

Production values have been great, part of the reason why I'm enjoying watching it.

The whole Epstein Drive side-story was so cool and ultimately sad. The writers are really top notch in the series as they foreshadow things to come and do it with compelling stories based in science. (Or in this case science striking back). The whole parable of how dangerous and misunderstood quantum leaps of technology can be was very insightful.
