Angry Mini flood

So my living-room is destroyed had water leak in through a crack in the wall that ran floor to ceiling. Had to rip out all the carpeting cut the drywall and then have the crack sealed. My basement apt is in shambles and due to my recent surgery and other financial obligations I am now tapped so I have not been able to be as helpful as normal.

My girlfriend had to do most the labor on the repair, she works at a basement repair company so that was a wonderful happenstance. But I need to find a way to pay for her supplies so her boss does not get after her.

This is the gal I want to marry this year so.

Anyway she was in town for valentines day and we end up ripping up carpet and tearing out drywall. I am so romantic.

In the end we did end up at dinner and a movie so we had that. Not what I had envisioned but after spending on carpet cutters and the like that is what I get. Hopefully insurance will cover some but she warned us that most home owners policies does not cover cracks int he foundations, but the water damage and repair plus the mold remediation may get covered.

gah!!!

We had a plummer over a week back and he left the outside faucet open full blast during that epic freeze, but no way we can prove anything. The crack had been there for years but that that new water built up a water dam, pushed it open and came inside is what most likely happened tracing the water backward.

No fun.

No fun but it is dire times that relationships are tested

Best of luck!

On the plus side, sounds like you've got yourself a keeper (and no sarcasm, that -- I wish my wife could fix drywall!)

Looks like since it is not caused by a pluming issue and we are not in a flood plane it will not be covered by insurance, so this is all out of pocket. O_o

Yep she is the best. She can fix foundations but not drywall. That I need a pro for. I also will need to replace the carpet and hopefully we got all the items that might mold.

As I am a collector of loot. games, and other cool stuff I have to sort what was lost and what I can salvage from the water damage and mold. With my allergies I can not have any mold at all or it will trigger asthma

Anyway what is life without obstacles to overcome, boredom baby!!!
Time to get to work. ^_^
