Safari browser now on the PC

Yeah not impressed. It shows colors in some pages all wonky, wont minimize when you click on the task bar thingy(thats the one at the bottom of the screen

)

Blocky Text
Fuzzy outer glow on text making it hard to read
Tabbed browsing needed some coaxing to get working
Page loading is a bit slower
It doesn't auto format things in forums like, for this list in Safari it shows up as[list*][/list*]

Crashes more than *insert inappropriate joke here* on Vista x64. Feels more like an early alpha than a beta - it also has the usual rendering issues its rendering engine has with websites.

Plus, it looks totally out of place :/

Well, I'm posting from Safari right now. I have to say, I like it.

It's definitely far better than Firefox, but I'm not sure if it will replace Opera.

It's definitely faster than Opera.

God, this is bloody fast.

The only gripe I have is the text it shows - it's overly smoothed.

I've done it - I closed Opera and am using Safari only.

EDIT: I decreased it, but I don't see an option to turn it off completely.

EDIT2: another gripe is the click on the mouse scrollwheel doesn't work.

I think similar text font when I using mozilla firefox on Ubuntu 6.10.

It's nice...but slow to launch application. But for me Mozilla and IE7 seem faster load. Remember it's beta version.

For now, I didn't like it anymore. Mozilla+IE7 FTW!

Ok, I think I've settled on a conclusion: it is better than IE and Firefox (though IE's compatibility is still a shame) and I think it has some positives over Opera.

I'll use this for quick browsing, but if I intend to browse for an extended period, Opera ftw.

I installed it mainly to test my websites on a mac browser. Overall, it feels a bit faster than firefox but it doesn't have any extensions, etc. Also, the interface sucks, no default tab view? no doubleclick new tab?

Totally agree with Kombantant. I think it's pretty neat to have it, but there's just so many things wrong with it. While it is fast, it's extremely basic - and that kills it for me... along with the text.

I personally Like it I am posting from it now from Winxp sp2. I don't know what everyone doesn't like about the font, it's very similiar to what I have seen in some linux installations. I think you can change it as well, I haven't tinkered too much because as it is, it's fine for me. I wish those with complaints could elaborate more so I could see what you mean. My experience has been great and it makes me want a mac.

zero crashes(correction: 1 crashed, I was fooling around with the activity window right after the post)
excellent speed
had the most important plugins ready
No problem at any of the sites I normally visit

1. Opera
2. IE
3. Safari
4. Mozilla Firefox
And yes, it pushed Mozilla Firefox down the list. But I still hate the font smoothing...

Yeah, Firefox has addons to serve that purpose. Of course all those other craptastic browsers fall short in terms of customization, making it much harder to perform simple tasks such as that which you requested.

Safari doesn't work well on my machine at all. Pages load OK, min and max it seems not to work well. If you have dual monitors and move it to the second monitor it will not go full screen. i won't be using it as my main browser, although apple announced that it will be integrated into itunes. That could be cool and may bring some features like songbird.

it's too early to tell. way too many problems in this prerelease to make an objective opinion about it. but I really only use Seamonkey anyway, and I've never seen anything that would make me change; not in the last 6 years anyway.
