To bad, I loved their Riddick games I think they would have done a good job on a System Shock style game.

Epic should throw money at SS3/the system shock remake.

Saving this project is worth the whole thing going EGS.

This seems crazy. Why on earth would they do that? unless they dont believe they can make the game properly?

Starbreeze went all in on VR, it did not end well, they are basically bankrupt.

And that walking dead game also lost them a ton of money.

Damn. Thats a bummer, they did some decent things. Is Diesel still the owner? still making decisions on games?

Damn. Was looking forward to this. Then again, it's probably for the better. A dumbed down, consolized sequel to one of the greatest PC games ever made probably wouldn't turn out right.

Eurogamer: the Fall of Starbreeze. Interesting article for everyone who thinks Starbreeze is still Starbreeze at heart, or in a financial state to develop anything at all really. I have never heard of OtherSide Entertainment, but a well-made version of System Shock 3 was never going to happen with Starbreeze on the job.

This was a good read for a me a couple weeks ago and I rarely roll through articles like this to the end.

I recommend it to anyone who thinks Starbreeze has the wiggly bits to do anything these days.

Is this the System Shock game that was kickstarted and then was put on hold or something like that?

Naw don't think so IIRC the Nightdive Studio one was a remake of System Shock.

Seyiji is correct.

The SS1 remake is coming along nicely at Nightdive now.

This is good news, OtherSide Entertainment, are made up of developers from the original Looking Glass studios the ones that made thief and system shock one and two, that means the game will now be totally in the hands of the ones that really know, what the game should be (I hope) and the ones that are working on the third game.

The thing is System Shock 2 didn't really feel like it was set up that well for a sequel. I guess there's nothing stopping them just making a new game, regardless. As long as it's basically in the vein of SS2 it should be good (never played the original SS, looking forward to the remake).

It sounds like another situation where a developer/publisher had a big success and then got overconfident and overextended themselves while not really knowing what the hell they were doing. The same thing apparently happened to Telltale. Although as the article makes clear the current Starbreeze is really Overkill anyway. The original Starbreeze effectively failed years ago.

How you figure that? Shodan is alive and well at the end.

That wasn't how I remembered the ending, but maybe I forgot some twist at the end of the cutscene. It's been at least a decade since I played it.

Looking forward to the SS1 remake. Though, I'd actually prefer we never get an SS3. I just don't see how a new game made 20+ years later would live up to the legacy. I guess its one of those things where instead of me craving for more, I just take a appreciation for what it was/is and don't want that tarnished.

Skip to 2:03 of this video. It's absolutely set up for a sequel.
